She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 175

Lyra immediately reached to unlock the door.

Rowan's expression darkened. He grabbed her arm and yanked her back. He looked down at her, his gaze intense, radiating a suffocating wave of pressure.

"Is it really this hard just to have a conversation now? Who was the one always clinging to me back then?"

The accusation rubbed Lyra the wrong way. If anyone heard that, they'd definitely get the wrong idea. "That was when we were kids."

"You call your sophomore and junior years of college 'when we were kids'?"

Lyra's face turned icy. "What exactly do you want?"

"Why do Fairchild Holdings' products align perfectly with my exact visions? How do you know exactly what I'm thinking?" Rowan demanded.

"Lyra, how do you know all of that?"

"You better explain yourself clearly, or you could be looking at prison time."

"Stop trying to scare me," Lyra scoffed.

Rowan observed her subtle reactions, his expression somber.

Seeing that he wasn't joking around, Lyra looked down, picking at her nails. "Someone taught me."

"Who?"

Lyra kept her face tilted down. Rowan stared at her, only able to see the hairpin on the crown of her head. His gaze deepened. "Cat got your tongue?"

Lyra finally looked up. "A book. A book called 'Responsive Python: A Casebook of 1000 Algorithms'."

She gave a careless shrug. "Once I studied it thoroughly, those ideas just came naturally."

Rowan froze.

She said she learned it from that book?

"I understand about the seminar. I'll make time in my schedule."

Rowan didn't decline. "I'd also like to pay you a visit soon."

Professor Fuller hadn't expected him to agree to the seminar so readily, let alone offer a personal visit. "Excellent, excellent..."

The professor exchanged a few more pleasantries before hanging up, thoroughly delighted.

After Rowan ended the call, the cold, oppressive aura instantly returned to him. The polite warmth he had just displayed to Professor Fuller vanished without a trace.

...

"Rowan." Jasmine knocked softly on the door and walked in, her brow furrowed.

"What did you and Lyra talk about?" She had only come looking for him after seeing Lyra return to the main room.
