She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 201

Tabitha also saw the video of Lyra falling into the water.

She sneered mockingly, "The one who shouldn't have died in the Fairchild family is dead. Caleb and Lyra are useless, and Lyra is nothing but a punching bag. Fairchild Holdings is going to collapse any day now."

Jonathan Ford perked up. "Does that mean... The Ford Family is finally going to rise to the top?"

Grandma Ford sat at the head of the table, her expression relaxed and pleased. "This is all Jasmine's doing. She's a blessing to this family, capable of carrying all of us forward."

Elara was thrilled. She jumped to her feet excitedly. "That's amazing! Let's go out for a nice dinner to celebrate! Aunt Tabitha, Uncle Jonathan, you should come with us!"

"We'll pass. Just take your cousin," Jonathan waved it off. He wasn't used to hanging out with the younger generation and found them too loud.

Jasmine wasn't home right now; she was still at the office. Deep down, she was a total workaholic.

Just then, Elara's phone rang.

Assuming it was her cousin, Elara picked up and said hello a few times. When the other end remained completely silent, she quickly hung up.

She didn't think much of it.

She then called Jasmine, who told them to head over to The Sapphire Room first and that she'd join them as soon as she wrapped up work.

Elara headed over with Thomas Townsend and Valerie Townsend.

When they arrived at the restaurant, the mother and daughter went inside to grab a table and order while Thomas went to park the car.

They had barely sat down when Mrs. Townsend excused herself to the restroom.

In that short window of a few minutes, Lyra walked in.

She had no idea where Elara lived, so she had just camped out near the Ford residence and tailed them here. She hadn't expected to get lucky enough to catch Elara all by herself.

Out of the corner of her eye, Elara spotted a cold, menacing figure marching straight toward her table.

Before she could even look up, Lyra grabbed her by the collar and viciously backhanded her across the face.

The sharp cracks echoed through the room, shocking the nearby diners into turning their heads.

Elara was completely stunned, her cheeks burning in agony. She froze in place, utterly incapable of fighting back.

Lyra was slammed mercilessly onto the floor, sliding several feet away. The knife clattered to the tiles. The agonizing pain forced her into a fetal position, leaving her completely paralyzed.

The entire restaurant fell dead silent.

Lyra's face drained of color. She felt like her body had been shattered into pieces; the impact was so jarring she couldn't even scream.

Through her dizzying haze, she heard Elara laughing with her hands on her hips. "Jasmine isn't some delicate princess. You completely brought this on yourself, Lyra..."

"She started it, she got what she deserved."

A few patrons started clapping. After all, from their perspective, Lyra had barged in and attacked them completely unprovoked.

To everyone watching, Jasmine's actions were pure self-defense.

As Lyra lay crippled on the floor, her body screaming in agony, the realization violently crashed down on her.

How could she have forgotten...
