She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 208

A faint smile touched Caspian's eyes. "That's right. The human body pushes past its limits. Reaction speed, explosive power, and split-second judgment all break normal boundaries for a short window."

He paused in thought, then added, "Not that I've ever experienced it myself. Just what I've heard."

After leaving the racetrack, Lyra took him out to grab a bite.

Once they finished their meal, Caspian needed to head to the university lab.

He had missed several days of classes in a row.

He wanted to catch up on his lab reports.

Lyra tagged along, waiting quietly on the sidelines while he worked.

When he finally finished, Lyra stared at the dark bruise on his jaw, unable to hold back her confusion any longer. "Why did you go after Jasmine?"

Caspian stayed silent for a long time before quietly admitting, "Because Rowan likes her. Anyone he cares about, I'm going to destroy."

Lyra blinked, stunned. "Why would you do that?" she asked softly.

A heavy, unyielding bitterness filled Caspian's eyes. Every word dripped with ice. "Because the tutor I cared for most was destroyed by his own hands."

Lyra smartly closed her mouth, deciding not to push any further.

After all, she had just poked at someone else's open wound.

Lyra had no idea who this tutor was—the person Caspian held so deeply in his heart, the source of his agonizing grief.

Swallowing her questions, she asked gently, "Then why did you come clean to him this time?"

At this point in her past life, Caspian had never confessed to being the culprit. He had kept his mouth firmly shut. Yet in this timeline, he had willingly laid his cards on the table.

Why confess now?

Caspian glanced at her, then lowered his gaze, his tone flat. "I didn't want innocent people getting dragged down with me."

Rowan didn't reveal the culprit's name. He only said, "I'm sorry, Tabitha. I'm the reason Jasmine got hurt."

Hearing Rowan take the blame, Tabitha's tone immediately softened. Not daring to point fingers, she offered a gentle sigh. "Rowan, at the end of the day, our Jasmine simply doesn't have a secure pillar to lean on. Our family is already reaching far above our station, so how could we ever blame you? We just pray that you and Jasmine can finalize the engagement soon. Once she's under your protection, she won't have to suffer such senseless injustices or fall victim to other people's schemes."

As Tabitha finished, Jonathan and Grandma Ford held their breath in anticipation.

She was outright demanding a wedding.

Wesley quietly glanced up at his boss, who remained completely impassive.

Rowan kept his eyes on the pale, sleeping figure of Jasmine in the hospital bed. "Once she recovers, we'll get engaged," he announced.

A massive weight lifted from Tabitha's chest, bringing her close to tears of joy, while the rest of the Fords celebrated silently.

Thank God. At least this accident wasn't a total waste, and Jasmine's suffering hadn't been in vain.
