She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 231

Lyra's mind was entirely on whether Victoria would say something inappropriate to her mother, completely ignoring what Rowan was saying.

She just hadn't expected him to stick around after his mother left.

Seeing her silence, Rowan's voice turned icy. "Did you know who he was before you saved him?"

Lyra's tone was stiff. "No."

Rowan's expression darkened at her blatant hostility. "You'd better know what you're doing."

As he finished speaking, Lyra's gaze drifted to his cuffs. A pair of elegant, peacock-blue cufflinks glimmered subtly, perfectly fastened.

Catching her stare, Rowan smoothly adjusted his sleeve with effortless grace.

When Victoria walked back in and noticed the tense atmosphere, she frowned slightly before breaking into a warm smile. "Lyra, get some good rest. I'll come visit you again... Once you're fully recovered, we'll go shopping together."

Lyra lowered her eyes. "Okay, Victoria," she replied softly.

"Let's go, Rowan." Victoria glanced at her eldest son and led the way out.

Rowan gave Delilah a brief nod before following his mother out the door.

Once they were gone, Lyra immediately noticed Delilah's pale complexion. "Mom, what's wrong?"

Delilah just shook her head.

Since Lyra was physically fine, she wanted to be discharged. By the afternoon, Delilah had Martha and Mr. Lawrence pack up their things, and they headed home together.

After they left, the cleaning lady came in to change the hospital bed linens. She found a cufflink under the bed. Seeing how expensive it looked and making sure no one was watching, she slipped it into her pocket.

The next day's news didn't report the Everglade Flyover crash.

However, footage from a bystander's dashcam still made its way online.

As soon as the video dropped, it went completely viral. Lyra's decisive, fearless rescue of the armored Lincoln sedan in such a perilous situation left viewers breathless.

At first, the comment section assumed the driver was male, flooded with unanimous praise:

[What a hero.]

Adrenaline had really done the heavy lifting.

Suddenly, someone started pounding furiously on her bedroom door. Caleb was roaring from the hallway, "Lyra, get out here right now! What the hell did you do?!"

Truth be told, Delilah and Caleb had assumed it was a minor fender bender. Having not seen the wrecked car, they had no idea how severe the crash actually was.

Ever since the accident, the traffic police had impounded her car and sent it to a repair shop. Whether it would be scrapped or fixed was still pending.

Caleb had seen a photo from the scene online. The camera had focused on the cross-river overpass. The guardrail was twisted and mangled, with the churning river waiting just beyond the gap. Two out-of-control sedans were wedged sideways in the middle of the road, tilted precariously over the edge. The slightest jolt would have sent them plunging into the water. It was a terrifying sight.

The delayed fear was driving Caleb insane.

Kayla's voice drifted through the door. "Alright, calm down. If you keep yelling, even Mom is going to hear you."

Lyra thought, *Kayla really knows how to handle him.* Thankfully, she had Quentin secretly install a filtering app on her mother's phone beforehand.

Any notifications containing keywords like "Lyra," "Miss Fairchild," "Caleb's sister," or "your daughter" were automatically blocked. She had full oversight of Delilah's phone, completely erasing any risky contacts.
