She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 248

Leo looked confused but handed his phone over to Lyra. "It's Lucas."

Lyra hesitated for a second before taking the device.

She stepped outside the private room to answer.

"Lyra, did you really nuke the Ford family just to get back at Rowan? Let me make this completely clear to you—even if you stripped naked and threw yourself at him, Rowan wouldn't give you a second glance! Stop thinking these little schemes make you invincible. When this blows up in your face, absolutely no one is going to save you!"

"Did you eat your sh*t yet?"

Lyra walked back into the private room, handing the phone back to Leo. Her fingertips were ice cold.

"Everything okay?" Leo asked.

Lyra shook her head slightly.

Madeline chimed in to ask what the call was about, but Lyra stayed silent. Leo answered for her instead. "I'm pretty sure my cousin is into Lyra."

"What?!"

Instantly, Madeline dropped all interest in the Jameson and Ford drama. She spent the rest of the meal obsessing over how she never saw it coming, amazed that a guy like Lucas had such convoluted feelings.

Lyra sighed. "Stop guessing. That's not what liking someone looks like."

They finished their meal and got ready to head their separate ways.

Madeline had driven herself, so she was the first to peel out of the parking lot.

Lyra and Leo had barely stepped out the front doors when several hulking men with cold, impassive expressions completely blocked their path, exuding a heavy, dangerous aura.

"Miss Fairchild, you're going to need to come with us."

Lyra took a slow, deep breath. Strangely, the panic drained from her face, leaving her entirely calm. She looked up at them and asked, "And if I refuse?"

The moment the words left her mouth, she grabbed Leo's arm, spun around, and sprinted in the opposite direction.

They stumbled wildly into Leo's car, slamming the doors shut behind them.

Leo whipped his head toward Lyra. She was pale, her jaw set tight. He frowned, lowering his voice. "Who the hell were those guys?"
