She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 266

It wasn't until Jayden safely parked the car in the Fairchild driveway that Lyra finally let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.

"Thank you, Jayden."

Her nerves had been strung tight the entire ride. She was completely unaccustomed to dealing with men who carried such a heavy political aura.

He was grounded and composed, acting like an authoritative mentor or an older uncle. His boundaries were so impeccably rigid that it only made her feel more on edge.

"Don't mention it," Jayden said warmly. "Go on inside."

Lyra thanked him again and hurried through the front door.

Seeing her walk in alone, Delilah immediately asked, "Where's your brother?"

"He had a business dinner tonight."

Delilah nodded. "Wash your hands, then. Dinner is ready."

At the dining table, Kayla recalled the man who had dropped her sister off. She smiled playfully. "Was that Jayden who just brought you home? The one who visited the house a while back? He's quite a catch, very distinguished. I think you two would make a great match..."

Delilah looked up in surprise. "Was it him?"

Lyra nodded, then quickly shook her head. "He just happened to be passing by and offered me a ride. That's all it was."

Her taste in men had drastically shifted.

In her previous life, she had worshiped power, utterly captivated by a dominant, overwhelming force like Rowan. She had loved him to the point of obsession.

But now, she wanted absolutely nothing to do with men who sat on thrones and suffocated the air around them.

In this life, all she wanted was peace, stability, and a quiet romance.

Deep down, she had already set her sights on someone—Zane Sutton was coming back soon anyway.

As long as he wasn't opposed to the idea, she was ready to make the first move.

Zane possessed the gentle, refined air of a scholar. He had no dark, manipulative schemes and was completely untouched by the ruthless ambition of the corporate world. He was grounded, pure, and exactly the kind of man she longed for.

Thinking of him, Lyra bit the end of her fork and let out a soft smile.

—She just had to make sure she didn't scare him away.

"What are you smiling about?"
