After ending the call, Lyra sat in a daze.
She had no idea Zane had a cousin.
It was completely unexpected.
She only knew that in her past life, Zane had joined Jameson Tech, which was Rowan's personal tech venture, not the main Jameson Group. He didn't seem close to his family, treated the company like his home, and hung out with Quentin and York even on holidays. She had never seen his relatives.
Of course, Zane and Lyra hadn't been close back then.
In this life, she had intentionally staked out the college town, pretending to be a lost tourist and using the old "classmate needing a favor" trick to get close to him, completely throwing her pride out the window. Once they got to know each other, Zane had actually been quite warm and friendly.
Martha set Caleb's breakfast on the table. Caleb walked over, noticed her spacing out, and asked, "Who was on the phone?"
"Zane Sutton."
"The engineer joining the company soon?"
"Maybe, possibly, in the future... my future husband."
Caleb nearly choked on his coffee.
Lyra was brimming with confidence, not even bothering to look up. "The first day he gets here, I'm going to win him over."
Delilah walked into the room and asked, "Win who over?"
Lyra finally looked up and smiled at her mother. "How about I snag a son-in-law for you?"
"That would be wonderful," Delilah said. "The house will be much livelier."
"Don't listen to her, Mom," Caleb said, tearing off a piece of toast. "She's been boy-crazy lately, talking about snagging a husband and claiming people are after her."
Lyra scoffed. "Just you wait and see."
After breakfast, Caleb had to take Kayla to her OB-GYN appointment. He finished quickly and didn't linger. By the time Kayla came downstairs, Martha had finished cleaning up, and they headed out to the car.
"Kayla, let me come with you," Lyra offered.
