She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 318

Rowan was away on his business trip and not at the company.

The moment Jasmine arrived at the office building, she marched straight to the executive suite. Looking up at Zara Somerset, she ordered, "Step outside."

Zara stepped out in confusion. Before she could process what was happening, she was met with Jasmine's scrutinizing glare.

"When did things start between you and Mr. Jameson?"

Zara froze, utterly bewildered. She didn't understand what Jasmine was talking about at all and shook her head blankly.

Watching her act so innocent and pure only soured Jasmine's mood further. Her tone turned caustic. "Someone with your mediocre education and average credentials has absolutely no business holding this position beside him."

"Who pulled strings to get you in?"

Zara had indeed been specially placed there by Mr. Montgomery. Back when she was just a college student working part-time as a server, Rowan had attended a business dinner there. Under the dim, ambient lighting, he had reached out and grabbed her wrist. He had merely asked casually about the bracelet she was wearing, his tone detached and devoid of any romantic interest.

But to the onlookers, the gesture had meant something entirely different. Ever since then, Mr. Montgomery had deliberately set her up to become Rowan's secretary, seizing the opportunity to insert her into the company the moment a vacancy opened. Still, it wasn't a bad arrangement. Her salary was significantly higher now.

Zara was perfectly happy with her current situation.

"Did you know," Jasmine said coldly, "that Rowan despises idiots? There used to be a foolish girl hovering around him, a girl far more stunning than you could ever hope to be. But because she was an idiot, he never even spared her a second glance."

Recalling the past, Jasmine offered a faint smile. "She would pretend to twist her ankle and fall into his arms just to create an opportunity. She knew how to swim but pretended she couldn't, deliberately reaching out for him to save her. Doing it once or twice was fine—men might find it cute and novel, a fun little game. But after a while, it just becomes tiresome and blatantly fake."
