Rowan finally released her when he had his fill of her lips. Lyra quickly sat up and pushed the car door open. Behind her, his voice drifted out with a casual drawl. "Think about it carefully."
A few days later, Lyra asked Leo Chavez for a favor. He pulled some strings with a well-connected minor celebrity in the industry, giving Lyra the perfect excuse to arrange a meeting with Josie Somerset. Her family had forbidden her from driving, and Mr. Lawrence was on constant standby to look after Kayla. Since Liam had just gotten his license and proved to be a surprisingly steady driver, Lyra had him temporarily step in as her chauffeur.
She waited in the private room of the coffee shop for a full half hour before Josie finally arrived. The moment Josie slid into the booth, she pulled off her oversized sunglasses.
Before this meeting, Lyra had done her homework. When Josie first entered the entertainment industry, she had starred in a few niche indie films. However, her acting was mediocre, and she failed to gain any market recognition, leaving her career stagnant. That was until Rowan stepped in. While other actors clawed their way up, Rowan utilized the private resources of the Jameson Group, pulling strings behind the scenes to secure prime theater placements for her. He poured millions of dollars into backing her, artificially elevating her to the status of a glamorous A-list star. With that immense financial backing, she finally found her footing, and as her acting skills matured, her fame skyrocketed.
It was easy to deduce that Josie's loyalty to Rowan stemmed from deep gratitude.
The two women sat across from each other in silence for a long moment. As Lyra studied her, Josie stared right back. Josie's eyes held nothing but confusion. She still could not understand why Lyra had sent her to Room 506 at that seaside motel back then. Lyra was stunningly beautiful, but entirely inexplicable.
Breaking the silence, Lyra said flatly, "You truly live up to your title as an actress, Josie. Does it feel good trying to destroy the Fairchild family?"
Josie snapped out of her daze and let out a cynical laugh. "I never claimed to be a good person, but are you? Back then, when I knew nothing, you tried to trick me into Room 506 to sleep with a complete stranger. Do you really think you hold the moral high ground?"
Lyra was instantly silenced. She had never expected Josie to interpret her actions that way. The truth was, Lyra knew from her past life that Josie would eventually fall in love with Rowan. Sending her to Room 506 was supposed to be a setup for them to meet, not a malicious trap! But Lyra could hardly confess that she had been reborn.
