She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 385

Lyra was completely caught off guard. She couldn't even form a coherent response. Just then, a pair of warm hands gently settled on her waist, and a solid, heated chest pressed firmly against her back, wrapping her securely in his embrace.

"I—I have to go."

Not daring to say another word, Lyra hung up the phone before Maddie could even reply.

Rowan's deep voice rumbled right next to her ear, laced with dark amusement. "Would you?"

Lyra spun around, deliberately ignoring the question, and pivoted the conversation. "Your girlfriend is currently in a very public screaming match with your other rumored fling, and the internet is tearing itself apart over it."

Rowan already knew. "And right now, I'm on a date with my rumored wife."

Before she could process that, he leaned down and kissed her hard.

Flustered and furious, Lyra kept tugging at the back of his shirt. "We're on a balcony! If you don't care about your reputation, I care about mine!"

She shoved him away, her face burning, and practically sprinted back inside the dining room.

The dishes began to arrive one by one.

Rowan rarely took the time to have dinner with her, yet Lyra seemed even busier than he was. She hadn't taken a single bite. Ever since that phone call, her fingers hadn't stopped flying across her screen.

He sat next to her, watching as she aggressively typed out comments defending Josie.

"What is this? Are you a Josie fan now?"

Lyra didn't even look up, her tone completely flat. "As long as it pisses off Jasmine, I'm all for it."

Even though she hated Josie too.

His eyes darkened slightly. "The reason? You're jealous."

The moment those words left his mouth, the temperature in Lyra's eyes plummeted. Her expression turned entirely frigid.
