Not beautiful enough.
He grabbed her wrists, pinning them against the door. Rowan pulled her in for another kiss, then finally pulled back and stopped the recording. The video he had just filmed was already saved to his phone. He watched it once, satisfied, and opened the official account of the Jameson Group.
The account had immense reach. If this video were made public, the Jameson family elders—like Charles and Grandpa Alistair—along with everyone in the business world, would instantly know about their secret affair.
Tears sprang to Lyra's eyes. In a panic, she bit down hard on his wrist, pressing her hands tightly over his phone to guard it.
Rowan frowned, unfazed by the pain. He reached out and gently pressed her tense, cold shoulder. "What are you crying for?" he asked. "I'm just advising you to think carefully before you speak."
His voice dropped to a low, soothing murmur. "Don't be afraid. As long as you don't say things I don't want to hear, it doesn't matter if we go public or not."
Lyra just crouched on the floor, clutching his phone and shaking her head.
The things coming out of Rowan's mouth were enough to make her sick to her stomach.
Her instincts screamed at her to stay away from someone so unhinged.
She furrowed her brow. "What will people think of us?" she asked. "What will your grandpa think? What will your parents think?"
Hearing this, Rowan reached out and stroked her hair, his tone utterly calm. "They'll find out sooner or later."
"I'm already prepared."
Lyra's expression went blank for a moment. She hadn't even prepared herself, and he already had everything figured out?
Lyra realized her only option was to bite the bullet and secure Mrs. Sawyer's land. That commercial district was a crucial asset for the Jameson Group. If she could get her hands on it, she would hold all the cards, forcing Rowan to finally back down and compromise.
"Let's go eat," Rowan said, pulling her to her feet.
The dining room wasn't in this villa, but in an adjacent one connected by a glass corridor, designed like a sprawling, unified estate.
