Seeing the tension, Leo immediately stepped forward, positioning himself firmly in front of the two girls. Tall and imposing, his mere presence created a solid barrier between the two sides. He looked at Jasmine calmly, his gaze steady. He wasn't aggressive, but he didn't give an inch either, making it clear he was going to protect the girls behind him.
For a moment, the onlookers couldn't quite tell exactly who Jasmine's sudden burst of fury was directed at.
Lyra frowned. She was genuinely afraid that Jasmine might charge forward and loudly declare the scandalous nature of Lyra's relationship with Rowan. Once those rumors started, there would be no way to deny them.
Suddenly, the harshness on Jasmine's face faded, her expression softening into a look of tender affection.
As Lyra stood there completely bewildered, a warm, solid chest unexpectedly pressed against her back, making her stiffen in shock. She instinctively looked over her shoulder and locked eyes with Rowan's dark, bottomless gaze.
Their eyes met for a fleeting second. His expression was completely unreadable, devoid of any emotion. After a brief glance, he smoothly shifted his gaze away, his entire aura radiating a freezing, unapproachable distance.
"Rowan..." Jasmine called out to him softly.
With Rowan's sudden appearance, Maddie and Lyra silently agreed to step aside and give them space.
The crowd watched the interaction and instantly drew their own conclusions.
Even after a breakup, they were clearly still friends.
And if they were still friends, it was highly likely they would get back together and rekindle their romance.
While all eyes were glued to the two of them, Leo quietly leaned close to Maddie and whispered, "This isn't a good place to hang around. You two should get out of here."
Maddie nodded. Grabbing Lyra's hand, she pulled her out of the hall. Once they were safely in the car, Maddie immediately ordered the driver to take off.
As the car pulled smoothly away from the venue, Lyra's phone started ringing. It was Rowan. Lyra hesitated, but Maddie urged her to answer it.
