Rowan naturally noticed Delilah's questioning gaze. His deep voice was remarkably polite. "Caleb, Aunt Delilah, I'll be taking my leave now."
"Wait a moment, Rowan," Delilah called out, stopping him in his tracks. "Lyra actually has a boyfriend now. Moving forward, could you please make sure Caspian cuts ties with her and lets the past go?"
Rowan raised a brow, a dangerous glint in his eye. "A boyfriend?"
"Do I happen to know who this boyfriend is?"
Delilah laughed softly. "She's been keeping it a total secret, but they seem to be very happy together..."
"Mom!" Lyra interrupted frantically, her face flushing with pure panic.
Delilah just assumed her daughter was being shy.
A faint, arrogant smirk touched Rowan's lips. "Understood, Aunt Delilah. I'll make sure to mention it to my mother."
Delilah mentally noted how much more approachable and reasonable Rowan had become lately.
The word "boyfriend" had immensely pleased Rowan. He naturally assumed she was talking about him, which was why he hadn't interrogated her about her sudden two-day disappearance.
After Lyra took a hot shower and finished blow-drying her hair, a video call request popped up on her screen.
Rowan had never video-called her before.
Glancing down to make sure her pajamas were conservative enough, she climbed into bed and accepted the call.
On the screen, Rowan was using one hand to loosen his silk tie, clearly getting ready to shower and sleep.
He stared at her through the screen, his voice dark and husky. "You look beautiful, darling."
"I've gotten too used to sleeping with you. My bed feels awfully empty tonight."
Lyra's face was stone-cold. "Go find yourself a girlfriend."
Rowan paused, his fingers lingering on his collar. "You won't do?"
"I'm happily childfree and never getting married," Lyra shot back.
Rowan's smirk vanished. "What's wrong with you now?"
