She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 485

Right now, Lyra's only hope lay with Sylvia and that unknown college student.

She just needed them to steal Rowan's attention away.

She desperately needed Rowan to get married.

...

Lyra had a quick lunch.

Since she hadn't used many dishes, she skipped the dishwasher and hand-washed the two plates and a pan herself.

Just as she was wiping down the kitchen counter with a paper towel, a bone-chilling sensation crept up her spine.

Someone was behind her.

"You're so good, darling. You'd make a perfect wife," Rowan drawled lazily, leaning against the doorframe.

An indescribable terror gripped Lyra. She had no idea how he had gotten in.

She was completely alone in the house, and this man had just appeared out of thin air. If she didn't force herself to stay rational, she would have had a total breakdown.

"Your family has so many relatives visiting. Is it really appropriate for you to just leave them?" Lyra asked, feeling a wave of exhaustion.

Rowan shrugged. "My parents and grandfather are there. It's fine. I just worried you'd be too lonely on New Year's Day."

"I'm not lonely!" Lyra tossed the paper towel into the trash. "I love having the house to myself. Leave."

"Then let me make it even more enjoyable for you."

"Did you get stabbed in the hand for nothing? I can gladly give you another scar." Lyra's face was livid. She turned, her slippers slapping the floor as she reached for a kitchen knife.

"I told you to stop playing with weapons." Rowan stepped forward and pulled her into his arms. Lyra was still wearing her white apron, and she fought wildly, leaning back to push him away.

She didn't want to resort to violence on a holiday, but she couldn't believe he had shown up to harass her on New Year's Day of all days.

Rowan untied her apron. "Darling, you look stunning in everything. Even just wearing this apron makes me..."

He didn't get to finish.

Suddenly, a frantic barking filled the room. A Bichon Frise charged in, bearing its teeth and growling at the intruder.

"You have a dog?"

After Lyra was reborn, she had banished Snowy to the servant's quarters in the backyard. The dog had been perfectly fine out there, but since Martha and the others were away for the holidays, she had brought the dog back inside.

Rowan let go of Lyra. "Where did this come from?"

"The dog your ex-girlfriend picked out."
