Ever since Charles found out Lyra was the one who bought the plot of land right in front of the Jameson Group headquarters, he made it his mission to acquire it.
Knowing that Rowan and Lyra were currently at odds, he figured Rowan wouldn't want to meet with her, so he stepped in personally.
In Charles's eyes, Lyra was Caspian's girlfriend. Even if she married Caspian, the land would belong to both of them. But business was business—the Jameson family couldn't just seize it later. It was better to secure the land before she officially joined the family...
Lyra had fully expected Charles to call her, and she promptly went out to meet him.
Inside the traditional tea house, Charles studied Lyra with an authoritative gaze before finally speaking. "Lyra, it feels like you grew up in the blink of an eye. I can't believe you had billions of dollars just lying around to buy that land."
"Your Grandpa Alistair was quite shocked when he heard. He said you're a young woman of hidden depths."
Charles smiled warmly and continued, "That land is crucial to the Jameson family. I was wondering if you might consider selling it to us..."
Lyra looked right at him. "Charles, as long as you make Rowan marry Sylvia, I will sell the land to the Jamesons."
Charles frowned, visibly confused. "What does your selling the land... have to do with Rowan?"
"As long as you make him get married and stop harassing me, I will sell the land to the Jamesons." Lyra had had enough of Rowan's relentless pursuit, so she decided to drop the problem right in his family's lap.
Charles finally understood what she was implying. A flash of shock crossed his face. He looked at Lyra, his tone hesitant. "Are you saying..."
Lyra's fingers dug into the fabric on her knees, her eyes cast downward.
She had already said it.
