She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 517

As Lyra sat down, she asked, "Where's Andrea?"

"Looking after the twins," Delilah replied.

A few days ago, one of the nannies had turned her back for just a second. Harry had crawled out and managed to squeeze right through the gap in the second-floor railing. By a miracle, Andrea had been right underneath and caught him perfectly.

Delilah had witnessed the whole thing and nearly passed out from the shock. Furious, she fired both nannies on the spot and temporarily assigned Andrea to watch the twins.

"Let her come eat. I'll watch the babies." Lyra took the chance to escape toward the stairs. She felt like this dinner was going to suffocate her. She'd rather skip it entirely.

"Lyra Fairchild!" Delilah snapped, stopping her in her tracks.

She had created this mess, and now she wanted to run away and avoid the consequences?

Delilah's face was freezing cold, though she couldn't entirely blame her daughter for wanting to avoid Rowan. The man's audacity was staggering. He hadn't even been invited, yet he sat there acting like he owned the place. A selfish man like him would only bring Lyra a lifetime of misery.

So, when the food was served, Delilah only urged Frederick to eat, pointedly ignoring Rowan. She didn't even bother pretending to make polite conversation.

"This spicy stir-fried beef was made specially for you by Lyra," Delilah told Frederick warmly.

Frederick glanced at Lyra, smiling. "Thank you."

"No... no need to thank me," Lyra mumbled. All she wanted was for this dinner to end so she could escape the oppressive tension thick in the air.

Rowan's dark eyes were fixed on her, unblinking, heavy enough to pin her to her chair. Unable to escape his predatory gaze, Lyra tried to break the suffocating silence. "This dish is really spicy. You probably aren't used to it. You should try something else."

It sounded like she was being incredibly attentive to Frederick.

Rowan's expression actually softened a fraction, his voice taking on a rare gentleness. "Alright."

Delilah couldn't stand the thought of Lyra exchanging pleasantries with Rowan. She cut in sharply, "Lyra, stop worrying about everyone else. Put some food on Mr. Parker's plate."
