"Did you see Jasmine that night?"
Cold rain pattered against the floor-to-ceiling windows. Lyra stared out at the dreary weather, her gaze heavy.
Andrea shook her head. After grabbing dinner with her brother that night, she had received a call from the bodyguards and rushed to the hospital to care for Wesley. She hadn't seen Jasmine. "Blake and Will went. I heard Jasmine's face was completely ruined—a bloody, unrecognizable mess. The facial injuries were horrific."
A chill crept down Lyra's spine, raising goosebumps along her arms.
She couldn't help but think that if Finn hadn't let her escape, she would have been the one suffering that tragic fate. Jasmine's horrific end was ultimately the result of stepping into a dark abyss of their own making.
Still, Rowan used to care so much for Jasmine, yet he had struck with absolute ruthlessness, showing zero regard for their past. When he turned cold, he left no room for mercy—just like how he had treated Fairchild Holdings back then...
Lost in the tragic memories of the past, she suddenly felt a tall shadow loom beside her.
Lyra jerked her head up, her gaze colliding unexpectedly with Rowan's deep, somber eyes.
Her heart gave a violent lurch, and she instinctively shrank behind Andrea.
A few seconds later, Lyra realized how drastically she had overreacted. A cold sweat broke out across her back.
Rowan had come in through the garage entrance rather than the front door. Noticing his wife's startled reaction, he asked, "What is it? What are you afraid of?"
His voice was low, carrying a hint of self-mockery. "Are you scared of your own husband?"
Andrea quickly stepped in to smooth things over. "Ma'am just finished a horror movie, so her nerves are still a little frayed."
Rowan's gaze fell on Lyra's pale face. "If you're that easily spooked, don't watch them anymore."
The maid immediately understood. The kitchen was an area Rowan rarely entered. She quickly stepped forward, took the roses, and retreated.
A moment later, Andrea came downstairs carrying Pip. Lyra turned and reached out, pulling her son into her arms. The little guy's warm body pressed snugly against hers, his comforting heat slowly soothing the lingering panic in her chest.
Pip wriggled in her embrace, his tiny body straining outward. He grabbed Lyra's arm with his little hands, babbling and fussing to go outside.
"You want to go out and play?" Lyra supported his back with a helpless smile.
Seeing this, Rowan stood up and casually adjusted his suit cuffs. "Perfect timing. Let me take you two out to eat."
"Where to?"
"Any nearby mall will do." Rowan reached out, firmly taking Pip from her arms. The moment the little guy landed in his father's hold, he settled down slightly, though his bright eyes stayed glued to the front door.

okay...
rowan...
What Rowan did in his past life was horrific, and I’m not excusing it, but he truly did everything he could in his second life to repent and atone for what he did to Lyra. At some point, there has to be room for forgiveness and grace. If someone spends their entire life trying to make amends and become a better person, then what does redemption mean if we never allow them a chance to be forgiven? Even someone who has done terrible things deserves the possibility of redemption, and honestly, I want Rowan to be happy too!...
