She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 74

"Rowan is going to walk through those elevators any second now. If he finds out you're standing in his lobby trying to hit on his girlfriend, what exactly do you think he's going to do to you?"

"If you don't play along right now, you are absolute dead meat."

Lyra wasn't exaggerating in the slightest. Rowan would crush him like a bug.

She knew for a fact she'd end up seeing him scrubbing rims at a car wash if he didn't listen.

By then, his entire net worth wouldn't even be enough to buy the tires on the Lamborghini he currently had parked out front.

"Give me a ride back to my office."

Calvin shuddered, swallowing hard as terror set in. "O-Okay..."

Lyra smiled brightly, plucking the massive bouquet from his hands. "Smart boy."

Just as the words left her mouth, the VIP elevator chimed open.

Rowan, Jasmine, Lucas, and Elara walked out into the lobby and immediately stopped, staring right at the scene.

Spotting Calvin, Elara intentionally raised her voice so it echoed across the marble floors. "Jasmine, isn't that Mr. Sinclair? The one who's always chasing after you? How on earth did Lyra manage to hook him? God, she really has no shame when it comes to stealing..."

Turning her attention toward the doors, she yelled, "Calvin! Are those flowers for my cousin, or are they for Lyra?"

Calvin took one look at Rowan and Jasmine's intertwined hands, and everything instantly clicked. Tabitha had deliberately sent him into a death trap.

He lowered his head, masking his panic with feigned disappointment. "I brought them for Miss Fairchild. I heard she was attending a meeting here today, so I rushed over to catch her."

Miss Fairchild had been entirely right. Jasmine was already taken, and the terrifying intimacy between her and Rowan was all the proof he needed.

Her boyfriend was Seaborne City's most ruthless billionaire. If Rowan even suspected Calvin had intentions toward Jasmine, his family's company would be turned to ash.

Lyra smiled softly. Well, at least the guy wasn't totally hopeless...

She leaned in and spoke in a soft, teasing tone. "I didn't bring my car today. Give me a ride?"

Without another word, the two of them walked openly out the grand glass doors.

He knew Lyra well enough to trust her judgment. She wouldn't pull a stunt like this without a damn good reason.

Caleb relaxed his posture, sliding his phone back into his pocket. "Why are we all just standing around in the lobby? Let's go eat..."

"Your sister is out there acting like a complete mess, and your only concern is getting lunch?" Lucas sneered, shooting Caleb a disdainful look.

"Honestly, I'd make a better brother to her than you do."

Caleb fired back with an icy, cutting glare. Jasmine froze, her eyes darting nervously toward Lucas.

Lucas's face darkened with rage.

He whirled around to face Rowan. "Rowan, isn't she supposed to be dating Cas? She's practically cucking your brother right in front of us. Are you seriously just going to stand there and let her humiliate him?"

Before Rowan could even open his mouth, Caleb shut it down. "Welcome to the 21st century, Lucas. My sister never said she was dating Calvin Sinclair. Is it a crime for two friends to share a ride?"

Rowan stared blankly at the glass doors. "Let's go eat."
