She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 92

She needed to save face...

How could Lyra dare to strike her at an occasion like this?

Did she not care about her image at all?

What wealthy family would ever want a violent, aggressive heiress?

It hurt so much...

Tears welled up in Elara's eyes, furious but too afraid to speak.

Just then, Lucas walked over and pulled Elara behind him, glaring fiercely at Lyra. "What the hell are you doing?"

Lyra casually shook out her hand and said, "Didn't you see?"

"You... jealousy has made you completely unrecognizable," Lucas said through gritted teeth. "You're just plain ugly right now."

Lyra met his gaze. He genuinely found her repulsive.

But in her previous life, she had been even worse. Medication had turned her into skin and bones, practically wasting away, and she had been the discarded wife Rowan didn't want... Yet Lucas hadn't minded dragging her into bed back then, had he?

Heh. What a hypocrite...

Lyra watched his retreating back as he escorted Elara away, mentally spitting in disgust.

Lucas took Elara over to the Ford family.

Jasmine and Rowan quickly learned what had happened. From a distance, the look Rowan shot Lyra was cold enough to freeze someone in their tracks.

Whatever Jasmine said to Rowan, she then walked over to Lyra alone, her eyes full of reproach. "Lyra, I know you hit my cousin because you hate that Rowan and I are together. If you have a problem, take it out on me."

Before Lyra could even open her mouth, her phone rang. She pulled it from her clutch, glanced at the caller ID, and answered, "Grandpa Jameson?"

Hearing who was on the other end, a suffocating wave of anxiety washed over Jasmine.

...

Alistair was already on his way back from the old estate.

Seeing his eldest grandson acting so intimately with a woman on the live broadcast had absolutely infuriated him.

[Makes sense. Only a goddess like that could win over Rowan.]

[What about Lyra? Didn't she have an engagement with Rowan?]

[Everyone calm down, I'll take Lyra off his hands!]

[Looking at this photo, Lyra is at the gala too. I wonder what's going through her head right now? I bet she's losing her mind.]

Someone tagged Lyra at that moment, but she ignored it.

A mocking smirk tugged at the corner of Lyra's mouth. The news had finally spread. Both the high school and middle school groups were buzzing with heated discussions... Someone sent another picture in the chat and added:

[She actually lost it! She slapped the goddess Jasmine's little cousin. She's seriously unhinged.]

By the time they arrived at the Jameson Estate, Lyra closed out of the chat.

In her past life, she had indeed felt humiliated and lost her mind. She had cried to Alistair all night, exhausting the entire Jameson family.

This time was different. Lyra's gaze was completely tranquil as she walked through the front doors of the mansion.
