Chapter 7
My memory isn’t failing me.
The lady immediately pulled out an actual marriage certificate and showed it to the crowd.
“Look, everyone! How could this be fake?”
“My son told me he went to some casinos, and this woman tricked him into getting married.”
“But she’d turn her back on him the very next day.”
She shoved her son forward. Tell them, son.”
Her son stared at me, his eyes giving me the creeps.
He grinned and lunged toward me, trying to grab me.
“Wife! You’re my wife!”
I jumped back in shock and had my bodyguards block him.
The crowd started murmuring.
“Oh, the casinos marriage license thing. Yeah, I’ve heard of that.”
“I said it back then–someone was gonna get drunk, sign the papers, then regret it.”
“Bet she just wanted to sleep with him. Got wasted, lost her head, and ended up married for real.”
“If you got married, own up to it. Who else is there to blame?”
My temples throbbed. I said flatly. “Call the police.”
There was no point arguing here.
And just like that, I was back at the police station again.
The officer handling my case was the same one from a few days ago. His expression was hard to read.
After hearing my explanation, he looked even more speechless.
The marriage certificate was sent off for authentication.
Lorelei’s mother was full of confidence, slamming the table.
“The marriage certificate is real! She’s going home with my son today to consummate the marriage! And give me a grandson!”
I frowned and waited for the results.
Not long after, the officer in charge of the verification came back.
His expression was complicated.

Chapter 7
“The certificate is real…”
“We checked with the marriage bureau. It was indeed issued at Las Vegas casinos.”
I glanced at the date.
The same night Eason and Lorelei got married on a dare.
“I wasn’t even there that night.”
Suddenly, something clicked.
Eason and I had agreed to register the next day. He said he was worried I’d lose my ID, so he took it to “keep it safe.”
There was a good chance they used my ID to marry me off to someone else.
I clenched my teeth and told the police my suspicion, adding that I still hadn’t gotten my ID back.
Eason was brought in for questioning again.
He thought I’d changed my mind about suing him and had come to get him out.
He walked toward me on his own.
“Babe, I knew you still loved me.”
“Besides, at your age, it’s gonna be hard to find a guy better than me.”
“Don’t worry. From now on, I’ll treat you right. I’ll run our company well.”
“After we get married, you can just relax at home and be a housewife.”
Even after all these days, Eason’s arrogance still made me sick.
It also made me wonder if I was blind when I fell for him.
I didn’t respond.
The police dragged him back and questioned him about my ID and the marriage registration.
Eason admitted he had my ID.
But he absolutely did not use it to marry me off to someone else.
“I was planning to marry her myself. Why would I let her marry someone else?”
The officer could only ask if he’d lost it.
That’s when Eason said.
“Oh, now I remember! Lorelei said she wanted to see Karina’s ID, so I showed it to her.”
“But she went to the bathroom and gave it back to me after.”
