Chapter 8
I was speechless.
This mess somehow involved Lorelei Versta again.
Eason was a complete idiot.
What else was there to say? It had to be Lorelei’s doing.
So they brought Lorelei in for questioning again.
This time, she didn’t even bother denying it. She admitted everything straight up.
“She’s loaded. What’s wrong with marrying her off to my brother so she can help him out?”
“How’d I do it? I photoshopped the marriage certificate photo, copied her makeup a little, brought my brother along, and boom–got it done.”
Eason looked shocked and slapped Lorelei across the face.
“Why the hell would you do that? Don’t you know she’s my fiancée?”
Lorelei acted like it was no big deal.
“You already married ME. Might as well keep it in the family. What’s wrong with having Karina marry my brother too?”
They nearly came to blows right there in the police station.
Eason’s face was full of regret. “Babe, I really didn’t know.”
I didn’t even bother responding.
What was the point?
The damage was already done.
After the investigation wrapped up, my ridiculous marriage was obviously declared invalid.
But it still left a bad taste in my mouth.
Later, Lorelei’s mom kept showing up at the company with her idiot son, throwing tantrums.
She kept saying I was her daughter in law and had to give her son a baby.
But I posted everything online, so people stopped misunderstanding me and started pointing fingers at them instead.
Plenty of people also complained about how absurd it was that casinos could issue marriage licenses.
The whole thing did affect the company a bit, but it also gave us publicity.
Of course, I took advantage of that and made a killing.
Lorelei’s arson case went to trial.

Chapter 8
Since her goal wasn’t to kill me but to burn down my house, she only got five years.
Eason was an accomplice. He also didn’t want me dead. Everything after was an accident.
So he got two years.
Honestly, I wasn’t satisfied. But there was nothing I could do.
I heard Eason tried to divorce Lorelei, but she refused.
Eason’s company–the one I’d propped up–went completely bankrupt and liquidated.
My fake marriage case also went to court. The marriage was declared invalid.
The mother and son finally ran out of reasons to harass me.
I breathed a sigh of relief.
At least this whole mess was finally over.
One night after work, I headed to the underground parking garage.
Out of nowhere, someone suddenly jumped out, covered my mouth, and dragged me toward a corner.
I fought back hard.
Someone hit me hard on the head and knocked me out.
When I woke up, I was tied up in a room with peeling walls that reeked of mold.
Lorelei’s mom stared at me with dark eyes.
“You little slut! Marrying my precious son is an honor! And you dared to get the marriage annulled!”
She waved at her son, who was staring at me with a creepy grin.
“Come here, son. This is your wife.”
“In a bit, you’re gonna take off her clothes, and then put your dick into her pussy!”
Her crude descriptions made me sick.
“That useless Lorelei finally did something useful and found you a rich wife.”
“F**k her a few times. If she fights back, just hit her. Then she’ll behave.”
Her idiot son giggled and nodded like crazy.
