Chapter 7
Chapter 7
Damien’s ring was worth eight figures.
I returned it, pocketed ten million, and hired eight male models.
Fall evening, private room, very little clothing involved.
Every single one had abs you could grate cheese on. They all called me “miss” like I was royalty.
Best night I’d had in months.
Until someone started banging on the door.
The manager appeared, looking terrified. “Ma’am… you have a visitor.”
Damien stood there like I’d personally killed his dog.
And next to him-Preston.
“Hey, baby~
“Come back to apologize?”
His face went darker at my words.
Fresh bruise on his cheekbone. He’d clearly been in another fight.
Preston spoke up, voice dripping contempt. “Eight guys in one night? Ambitious.”
His family owned this place. He’d definitely called Damien.
So much for the innocent college boy act.
I rolled my shoulder. “Bit of a workout, but I’ve done more.”
Damien looked ready to commit murder.
Preston exploded. “See?! I told you! Divorce her already!”
I widened my eyes at him.
Damien grabbed my wrist. “Let’s go.”
Chapter 7
Like some pathetic husband who’d just caught his wife cheating but was too weak to leave.
Except he’s the one who started this whole mess.
“You can’t seriously stay with her!”
Why did this kid care so much about our marriage?
Preston shoved past Damien and kicked the door open. “She’s in there with eight-”
Stopped dead.
Eight guys. Sixteen hands. Eighty fingernails painted in every shade imaginable.
Damien exhaled. His hand relaxed around mine.
“That’s… very professional.”
“I run a business.”
Small-town girl’s gotta make a living somehow.
Preston stared. When he finally looked at me, something guilty flickered across his face.
My cue.
I pulled away from Damien. Let my voice shake.
“Thought you were picking me up. Didn’t realize this was an ambush.”
“Everyone already thinks I don’t belong here. That I’m some opportunist who tricked her way into money. They’re just waiting for me to mess up so they can kick me out.”
“Thought you were different. Guess not.”
Tears came easy. “Sorry I didn’t give you the show you wanted.”
Damien reached for me.
I stepped back.
“You know what? Fine.
“Let’s just get divorced.”
