Since You Chose Your 'Bro' I Married Your Brother novel Chapter 51

Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Didn’t look back. Didn’t wait to see their faces. Just ran.

Tears streaming down my cheeks the whole way out.

All fake. Obviously.

Checked my account in the car. Interest had posted again. Couple thousand earned while I was out here crying.

Money buys a lot of things. Including the right to be dramatic as hell.

Fell asleep scrolling through my account. Woke up to Damien in the driver’s seat, staring.

“Preston’s young. Doesn’t think before he talks. I dealt with it.

“Broke your lock getting in. I’ll get you a new car.”

He hesitated, then carefully pulled me toward him. Like I was something fragile he’d just gotten back.

I pushed against his chest. He didn’t move.

“We’re not divorcing.”

Kissed me before I could argue.

I shoved harder. Still nothing.

The moment he let go, I slapped him.

God, there’s something satisfying about smacking a gorgeous face.

I pressed my face to my knees, let my shoulders shake.

“Should’ve figured it out. You were different every time. Sweet, then rough. I’d want to stop and you wouldn’t listen. Made me do things I didn’t want. Say things that made me feel-”

I stopped. Swallowed.

“Never let me see your face. Never let me say your name out loud. Wouldn’t touch me in public. I only existed for you at night.”

“In the dark. That’s all I was.”

Chapter 8

“Everyone thinks I’m a joke. Some girl from nowhere who tricked her way in. Doesn’t belong here.”

“I was just convenient.”

Each word landed exactly where I wanted it to.

The truth, delivered soft enough to cut deep.

Manhattan’s perfect heir, so determined to avoid his arranged marriage that he outsourced his wedding night.

He wrapped both arms around me. Wouldn’t let go. “I’m sorry. God, I’m so sorry. Never again.”

His voice cracked with guilt.

Wonder what went through his head every time he saw them. Knowing.

“Never again? Which part? People will stop talking? Your friends will respect me? Or you’ll stop coming home and fucking me like you own me?

“Can you actually fix any of this, Damien?”
