Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Inside the VIPan Royal Crest Club, Carter sat with a hazy look in his eyes, clutching
He opped his head back, showing off that flawless jawline, and finished his drink in one
Several empty bottles lay scattered in front of him
The other young people exchanged glances.
“Carter, take it easy. Did you get into a fight with Milly or something?” one of them guessed
At the mention of that familiar name, Carter’s head snapped up. “What happened to Milly?”
“Or is this about Whitney?” another chimed in.
Carter’s eyes, glazed with alcohol, suddenly widened. He snapped, “Don’t mention her in front of me
“Whitney, you’re so ungrateful, Carter muttered, his breath quick and uneven. “How could you be so cold? You little brat, we were supposed to get married. How could you…
Before he could finish, Carter slumped back on the couch, eyes closed, completely out cold.
“Man, since when did Whitney matter this much to him? the guys thought, all of them looking a little shocked.
“Should we call Whitney and have her come to pick him up?” one of them suggested.
Steven Smith already had Whitney’s number, so he dialed her up.
The phone rang and rang, but no one picked up.
“Did she answer?” one of them asked.
Carter had gotten wasted before, but it was almost always because of the girl he cared about most–Emily.
Every time, Steven would call Whitney to pick Carter up.
She’d always answer the call in a flash before, and Steven used to joke that maybe she had his number on speed dial
But tonight, something felt off.
“She didn’t answer. Now what?” Steven asked.
“Looks like we’ll have to call Emily,” one of them said with a grin.
By the time Emily arrived at Royal Crest Club, Carter was already completely wasted.
She asked, sounding a little pissed, “Why is Carter so drunk tonight?”
“Come on, we didn’t make him drink. It’s just because he had a fight with Whitney,” one of the
guys said.
As soon as he said it, the room went dead silent.
The guy who spoke got punched in the arm by his friend. “Don’t mind him, Emily. He’s talking nonsense. Carter’s just stoked you’re back, so he went a little overboard.”
