Skipped At The Altar, Taken By His Uncle novel Chapter 187

Chapter 187

As expected. Whitney’s X account had been completely overrun by haters.

Her inbox was packed with tons of messages, every single one just pure vitriol and abuse.

The internet crowd would never admit they were wrong, and they’d always hunt for the perfect scapegoat.

And that scapegoat was Whitney.

Some netizens did a deep dive into the Moore family and realized Whitney was the only one left standing everyone els was either dead or locked up.

Online folks loved making up stories.

The more they thought about it, the more convinced they were that Whitney was the mastermind behind everything.

Some people even called her a “murderer.”

Whitney grabbed Tina’s notebook and drove straight to the law firm.

She told the butler to ignore the people outside.

She said, “Don’t provoke them. Just wait for me to handle it. Stay in the house and don’t go out for three days.”

Then Whitney drove straight into the underground parking lot.

“Hey, Valerie, I’m on my way to the law firm,” Whitney said.

“Whitney, don’t come. There are a bunch of crazy haters outside, protesting with banners,” Valerie replied.

Whitney was speechless.

‘Man, some people really have nothing better to do,’ Whitney thought.

Whitney called the police right away.

The police showed up fast. These days, anyone causing trouble with banners got slapped with a charge for disturbing public order.

“Whitney, you can come up now. The police have cleared out those troublemakers,” Valerie said.

Whitney headed upstairs, calm as ever, but even the receptionist looked at her like she was trouble when she walked into the

law firm.

It was as if she was some notorious murderer or something.

Whitney went straight to Ivan. “Boss, I think something’s fishy about all this. But I can’t show my face right now. Can you

handle this defamation case for me?”

Ivan hadn’t expected Whitney to go head-to-head with the internet mob. “I’ve got your back. Those netizens are way out of line, like a pack of rabid dogs, latching onto anyone they can sink their teeth into.”

“But, do you have any idea why your stepsister jumped?” Ivan asked.

Whitney shook her head. “I don’t know, Boss. I’m about to get the handwriting checked at the lab. Maybe once that’s done.

we’ll finally have all the answers.”

The internet was drowning in hate, and even Whitney couldn’t pretend it didn’t get to her.

Some trolls went so far as to edit her face into fake memorial photos.

Whitney deleted every social app off her phone. If she couldn’t see it, she wouldn’t have to care.

The Boone family claimed Tina’s remains.

Carter went with Emily to the Boone residence to pay their respects.

Honestly, Carter didn’t want to go, but Emily insisted he come along, acting like visiting the Boone residence was walking into the lion’s den.

William felt a wave of relief seeing Emily. Tina’s closest friend, show up at the door.

“Emily, you really came to say goodbye to Tina,” William said, his voice soft.

Emily moved stiffly, her hands trembling a little as she paid her respects in front of Tina’s photo.

“Uncle Boone, I’m so sorry for your loss.” Emily said softly.

“I still haven’t told Laura about this. She’s in prison, and I’m worried if she hears, she won’t be able to take it,” William said, his voice heavy with concern.

Emily looked around the room, but found Tina’s cousin was nowhere to be seen.

“Her cousin is abroad. He was devastated when he heard the news, but he just couldn’t make it back,” William explained.

Carter was distracted, his mind wandering. Tina had always made things difficult for Whitney,. Now that she was suddenly gone, he found himself feeling nothing at all.

He was surprised by his own indifference to Tina’s sudden death.

Emily couldn’t help but scoff secretly. ‘Yeah, sure. He’s probably just hiding out abroad to dodge the whole situation, she thought.

“Uncle Boone, Carter and I should get going now,” Emily said.

As soon as they left, Conrad shot his older brother a nervous look. “You don’t think that girl noticed anything, do you?”

William snorted coldly. “So now you’re scared? Where was that fear when your son was acting so reckless? Why didn’t you do anything about it back then?”

Conrad rubbed his nose, looking sheepish. “Tim always so busy. How am I supposed to keep tabs on him? He’s just spoiled rotten by his mom.”

“William, should we fan the flames online? Everyone already thinks Whitney pushed Tina over the edge.” Conrad said. William shook his head. “I wouldn’t do that. Klein Harris isn’t someone you want to mess with. If they really start digging, your son won’t be able to get away with this.”

“The villa’s already been cleaned up. The staff got hush money, and we’ve got people keeping an eye on things. There’s no way they’ll find anything.” Conrad insisted, trying to sound sure of himself.

Carter saw how distracted Emily was. and gave her palm a gentle, reassuring squeeze. “Don’t be so sad. The dead can’t c back to life.

“Yeah, Emily smiled softly. “I know. It just makes me a little sentimental, that’s all.”

‘I never thought Tina actually had the nerve to go through with it, Emily thought, genuinely surprised.

Emily had coached Tina through writing the suicide note, but the parts that got erased in the middle had nothing to do

her.

Tina had made the decision to jump herself and it had nothing to do with her.

In the end, Emily had just nudged Tina in that direction, and there wasn’t a single trace of evidence left behind.

Whitney got the lab to fast-track the handwriting analysis.

“Whitney, after a close comparison, we can say for sure both samples were written by the same person,” the technician sa “But since you only sent us a photo, it’d be better if you could bring in the original. The ink looks kind of faded in the picture, so having the real thing would make it easier to confirm,” the technician added.

The original was in the Boone family’s hands, and Whitney had zero chance of getting it.

She felt totally stuck, like she’d just slammed into a brick wall.

Klein asked where she was, and Whitney told him the address.

Half an hour later, Klein showed up to pick her up.

Whitney got in the car, and Klein pulled her into his arms. “Are you scared? I had people delete all those crazy comments online. But if we wipe them all out, they’ll just think you’re guilty.”

“I found something out,” Klein said.

Whitney raised her eyebrows. “What is it?”

“After Tina went back to the Boone family, she was basically holed up at home for ages. The only time she stepped out was to see Emily,” Klein said.

Whitney frowned, puzzled. “You think Emily actually pushed her to jump?”

:

Klein shook his head. “I don’t knfow. It might’ve just been a normal get-together.”

“But the villa Tina was staying in, the one her cousin owned, was gold off just a few days ago,” Klein added.

‘So maybe it was the Boone family who really pushed Tina over the edge, Whitney thought, a cold shiver running through her body.

Whitney gave Klein a reassuring look. “Don’t worry, I’ll handle this. Trust me, I know what I’m doing.”

Klein glanced down at her, catching the confident sparkle in her eyes.
