Chapter 210
Chapter 210
Whitney quickly noticed something was off with Lena.
“What’s wrong, Lena?” Whitney asked.
Lena hesitated for a moment before asking. “Is Uncle Klein nearby?”
“Nope,” Whitney replied, glancing back as Klein went into the bathroom.
“He’s just freshening up. He knows I’m on the phone with you, so he won’t bother us,” Whitney added.
Lena was quiet for a moment before saying, “Whit, your cousin is the man I used to have a crush on. He also used to be n mom’s stepson.”
Whitney was stunned.
‘What the hell?’ Whitney thought, her mind spinning.
‘Isn’t this relationship way too complicated?’ she wondered.
“Lena, you’re… not joking, are you?” Whitney asked in disbelief.
Lena said with a wry smile, “Do I look like someone who jokes around?”
But Ethan was way older than Whitney.
“My cousin’s always been abroad. How did you even end up liking him?” Whitney asked, still trying to wrap her head aroun
Lena let out a sigh. “He was actually back in the country for a while.” she said.
Lena couldn’t even explain why she had fallen for Ethan.
She’d always been into older men. Boys her age just seemed so immature to her.
Maybe it was because she’d grown up without a father around.
So when she first met Ethan, who was gentle and refined, she was instantly hooked.
Lena had racked her brain trying to find excuses to bump into him, but she’d never had the guts to confess her feelings.
It wasn’t until she finally worked up the nerve that she realized the son of her mom’s new husband was actually the man she’d been secretly crushing on all this time.
That secret crush just fizzled out.
Did I regret it Lena thought to herself
Yeah, I did, she admitted to herself.
But Lena knew Ethan didn’t like her
If he did, he wouldn’t have just ignored her after she practically spelled it out for hun.
But even so, Lena had kind of blamed her mom back then
After hearing Lena’s story. Whitney could only sigh.

Chapter 210
“Lena, that’s all in the past now.” Whitney said softly.
Lena couldn’t help but chuckle. Yeah, it really is over now, she thought.
“But Lena, do you like Dustin?” Whitney asked.
55 vouche
For Lena, their families were basically joined by an arranged marriage, and the kid just tied them together even more.
Lena couldn’t say for sure if she liked Dustin, but she had to admit she really relied on him.
Dustin had always loved teasing her. Even though he was a few years older, he was still such a goofball.
“I don’t know,” Lena said. “But he’s been really good to me, way better than I ever expected. He dotes on Emma, and probably spends more time with her than I do.”
Whenever someone dropped by Lena’s place, they’d always gush about what a good family man Dustin was.
Lena really got herself a real gem with him.
“Honestly, I’ve never really sat down and thought about whether I actually liked him or not,” Lena admitted.
As she finished her sentence, the bedroom door behind her quietly closed.
“But… I think I do like him,” Lena smiled softly.
“Whit, I don’t have feelings for your cousin anymore. But honestly, just hearing his name still gets to me a little. Give me some more time. Maybe one day I’ll hear it and not feel a thing,” Lena said.
Whitney grinned, feeling relieved for her friend. “Alright, you can do it.”
After hanging up, Lena went downstairs for lunch. Emma was already asleep.
“Where’s Dustin?” Lena asked the nanny.
“Mr. Reed went out. He said he won’t be back for dinner tonight,” the nanny replied.
Lena paused, a little surprised.
‘Is he out for work or maybe some kind of social event?’ Lena wondered.
He didn’t even mention it to her. It was the first time since she’d started her postpartum recovery that Dustin had to go out for a business dinner at night.
She wasn’t used to it at all.
“Okay,” Lena replied.
Klein had zero interest in coming here.
But Eric wouldn’t take no for an answer, so Klein dragged himself over
When he stepped into the private room, Klein’s brows furrowed. His gaze landed on Dustin, who was completely hammered, slumped over with a row of empty bottles at his feet.
“What’s wrong? Did my niece kick you to the curb?” Klein said, raising his eyebrows.
Dustin looked like he’d just been punched in the gut. “Lena, am I just his substitute?”

Chapter 210
“Am I really just a substitute to you?” Dustin demanded, his voice slurred and full of frustration.
Klein just stared at him, at a loss for words.
He didn’t want to waste his time with a drunk man, so he turned to Eric. “What’s going on?”

Eric shrugged. “No clue. When I got here, he was already half drunk, just repeating that same line over and over. Honestly, he looks like a pathetic lovesick man.”
“Lena, how could you be so heartless? I’ve treated you so well… How could I just be a substitute?” Dustin mumbled, soundin
hurt.
“Lena, seriously, what’s so great about that man? He’s older than me, not as handsome, and I’m way taller Dustin muttered sounding jealous and a bit salty.
“Lena, come on, stop liking him already. Just like me instead, will you?” Dustin pleaded, his voice sofy and a little desperate.
desperan
Klein checked his watch. It was already nine. He had a wife waiting at home, and he should really head back.
He pulled out his phone and called Lena. She’d just finished tucking Emma in.
She was getting really annoyed tonight. ‘Seriously, it’s already nine and Dustin still isn’t home?’ Lena thought.
He’d said he wouldn’t go out for any business dinners during her postpartum recovery.
Now look at him, talk about a slap in the face.
“Hey, Uncle Klein. Calling me this late? What’s up?” Lena said.
“Hold on, I want you to hear something,” Klein said.
…Okay,’ Lena replied.
‘What could possibly be so important that he has to call me just to let me hear it?/Lena wondered, puzzled.
Then, she heard a familiar voice, slurred and unmistakably tipsy on the other end of the phone.
“Lena, how could you be so cruel? Am I just his replacement?” Dustin slurred, sounding wounded.
“Lena, do you even care about me? If you don’t, then why did you marry me?” he blurted out, his voice cracking.
“Lena! Just forget about that old man already!” Dustin shouted, jealousy dripping from every word.
“Lena, please like me, will you? I like you so much. I really, really do,” Dustin pleaded, his voice soft and full of longing.
“We already have a daughter together! How can you still be thinking about that old man? Lena, you have no heart!” Dustin slurred, his words thick with frustration.
Lena gasped.
“Did you hear that?” Klein’s voice was aloof and indifferent
“…I did,” Lena mumbled
She wished she hadn’t heard any of that.
“This is so embarrassing. Why couldn’t Dust wait until he got home to say all this? Lena thought, cringing hard.
‘Did he really have to lose it in front of Uncle Klein?’ she groaned
