Chapter 44
Oliver had no idea why Klein was suddenly pissed off.
He gave Dustin a kick, for Dustin was the one who got along best with Klein.
“Hey, Dustin, what’s got him all riled up?” Eric asked.
Dustin gave him a slow, teasing grin. “Wanna know? Maybe if you beg a little, I’ll consider it.”

Oliver snorted. “Please. Even if I begged, you’d still keep your mouth shut. Forget it. Save your mystery
act.”
Eric had a wild guess pop up in his mind, but it just felt way too messed up.
He thought, ‘Nah, that’s way too dirty.’
‘Come on, no way. Klein can’t be that much of an asshole, right?‘ Eric thought to himself.

As soon as Klein walked out of the Royal Crest Club, he called his assistant, Ryan Ward.
“What’s going on with the news online? Why are they twisting the truth?” Klein demanded.
Ryan pressed his lips together, trying to figure out what Klein meant. “Mr. Harris, are you talking about the news about Carter and Ms. Moore?”
Klein frowned, clearly annoyed. “I’m asking why the news is twisting the truth. It was Whitney who called off the wedding.”
Ryan felt a chill run down his spine.
Ryan didn’t miss a beat. “Understood, Mr. Harris. I’ll have the media fix the story right away.”
Klein gave a brief reply and hung up.
Ten minutes later, all those bogus headlines got wiped and replaced.
The new headline screamed, “Moore Heiress Dumps Fiancé at the Altar! Carter’s Forbidden Romance with
His Foster Sister Sends Shockwaves Through High Society!”
Klein grinned from ear to ear as he scrolled through the updated news, absolutely thrilled.
He shot Ryan a message.
Klein: [Nice work. You’re getting double the year–end bonus.]
Ryan was speechless.
Ryan replied with a polite smile.
Ryan: [Thank you, sir. That’s very generous of you.]

“I’m sorry, Ms. Moore. We did everything we could,” the doctor said.

He glanced at Whitney and calmly announced, “Your grandmother, Patricia Moore, passed away at 9:07. Cause of death, heart failure.”
Whitney’s legs gave out, but the nurse was quick to catch her before she hit the floor.
“I’m so sorry for your loss, Ms. Moore. There’s still a lot of paperwork to handle. You should call your family now,” the nurse said gently.
Whitney gripped the nurse’s hand tightly, her voice shaking. “Please, I need to see her,” she begged, desperation writter
