Chapter 52
Whitney gripped her phone, staring at the closed door, feeling a bit nervous.
She pressed the doorbell, and Klein opened up, dressed in a loose black silk pajama top. His hair was still damp, clinging to his neck, and beads of water slid down his collarbone, disappearing into his shirt.
Whitney’s ears instantly turned bright red.
“Um… Klein, you just woke up? Whitney stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.
Klein raised an eyebrow. “We agreed on nine. What’s got you showing up ahead of time? Whit, couldn’t wait to see me? Klein teased, his voice low and playful.
Whitney was super confused.
Since when did he, who’s always so proper, start acting all flirty?‘ Whitney thought, feeling a bit confused.
Whitney cleared her throat softly, eyes lowered. “I just didn’t want to be late.”
Yeah
The fresh, clean scent from his shower still lingered as he stepped aside. “Come on in.”
Whitney watched his imposing back and caught a glimpse of his toned calf as he walked away, quietly closing the door >ehind her.
At the entrance, she noticed a pair of pink bunny slippers. ‘Seriously?‘ She couldn’t help but feel a little amused.
Whitney slipped them on and trailed after Klein.
She glanced down and noticed Klein was wearing matching blue bunny slippers.
Wait, are these… couple slippers?‘ Whitney wondered as she paused, a bit taken aback.
Seriously, is Klein actually single?‘ she wondered, feeling a little skeptical.
Klein sat down, his collar now buttoned up. He sprawled lazily on the couch, legs crossed. “So, what did you want to talk about today?”
He noticed Whitney looked a bit spaced out, her gaze lingering on her own slippers.
Klein explained casually, “The supermarket gave me two pairs of slippers for free. I just grabbed whatever sivie was there
You don’t like them?”
Wait, so they were just freebies? Whitney thought, feeling a wave of relict.
Just moments ago, she’d been stressing over how to start the conversation, but after hearing that she finally felt at case
“They’re pretty cute. Rabbits are actually my favorite animal. Whitney said, feeling more welaxed
“Is that so?” Klein replied with a half–simile “Look over there. A friend gave me a rabbit, but I haven’t named her yet. Do you have any suggestions?”
Whitney’s eyes sparkled, and she instantly warmed up. “You have a rabbit? Wow she’s adorable! So fluffy and white. What a beautiful bunny Whitney exclaimed, her excitement obvious
