The fact that she needed medication proved that the baby in Yvonne's belly wasn't entirely stable.
"Are you feeling unwell again?" Emma asked with a hint of concern, noticing Yvonne's expression.
"This little thing inside me is no bigger than a pea, but it's already a master of torment," Yvonne said with a sigh.
It was the first time in her two lives that Yvonne had experienced this feeling—throwing up everything she ate, starving yet unable to keep any food down.
"Being a mother is never easy. That's why they say you don't realize what your parents went through until you become one yourself." After saying this, Emma had the store manager bring Yvonne some small pastries and juice.
Accompanied by the manager, Yvonne went into the dressing room to change into the wedding gown.
Because Yvonne was pregnant, Emma had avoided choosing a gown with an elaborate, long train. It would be a disaster if she accidentally tripped over it.
Instead, Emma had selected a floor-length gown that was simple yet elegant. The bodice and back were crafted from delicate lace, while the skirt was hand-embellished with scattered pearls and gems that sparkled dazzlingly.
After helping Yvonne into the dress, the manager quickly pinned up her long hair into a simple updo.
When Yvonne walked out of the dressing room, Emma and Cynthia looked up, both audibly gasping in awe.
As Yvonne stood there in her wedding gown, poised and elegant, it felt as if the entire room had brightened.
"Yvonne is so beautiful, it's no wonder Bennett is so taken with her. Even I can't help but be captivated," Cynthia teased with a smile.
"Cynthia, please don't make fun of me," Yvonne replied with a shy smile, looking down at the dress. The waist seemed a little too loose.
"I know a renowned specialist whose skills are exceptional. I had complications from a miscarriage years ago, and all the doctors said I could never get pregnant again. It was this specialist who helped me through fertility treatments, which is how I had Bennett. Would you like me to introduce you? He's amazing at helping women ensure a smooth and healthy pregnancy."
Emma offered with concern.
"Oh, that would be wonderful. Thank you, Emma," Cynthia replied with a smile.
As they spoke, both women glanced over at Yvonne.
Yvonne was standing in front of a full-length mirror while the manager knelt beside her, adjusting the hem of the gown.
As Yvonne happened to look back, she saw Bennett walking in from outside.
