Chapter 101 When the Hunter Became the Prey
Before anyone could react, Evan sprang into action.
He lunged forward like a hawk, clamping a hand around Mylo’s face and lifting him straight off the ground. Then, he drove Mylo’s head into the hood of the car, again and again.
Each impact sounded like a sledgehammer crashing down on steel.
The hood caved in under the force, denting deeper with every blow.
Worse was Mylo’s face. Blood and torn skin smeared together, his features beaten so badly, they were almost unrecognizable.
Everyone went rigid. Artemisia stared, stunned. So did Mylo’s men–eyes wide, mouths hanging open.
Who would’ve thought the prey would strike the hunter? And who would’ve imagined Evan would move so fast and act so ruthlessly?
They hadn’t even processed what was happening before Mylo’s face had turned into a mangled mess.
These were men who lived with knives at their throats, killers who survived by being crueler than the next guy.
Next to Evan, however, they suddenly felt tame.
“You’re dead, kid! You dared to hit Mr. Mylo? He’s Mr. Wells‘ godson!”
“By hitting him, you’re humiliating Mr. Wells!”
“Mr. Wells‘ reputation is ruined!”
Shock quickly turned to rage. The thugs Mylo brought with him roared in fury.
“Why are you just standing there? Kill him! Tear him to pieces!“/
Mylo hadn’t passed out. Instead, he shrieked like a madman, nearly hysterical.
Among Hugo’s godsons, Mylo wasn’t the most favored, but he still carried the title of his godson. Wherever he went, people treated him with respect.
He had never suffered humiliation like this.
Right now, he wanted to skin Evan alive.
His men grabbed their machetes and started rushing forward.
Evan’s lips curved into a strange, almost amused smile. He flicked Mylo’s phone back at him. “Call Hugo.”
Everyone was stunned into silence.
Evan had just beaten Mylo half to death, and instead of running, he was telling him to call his godfather?
A vicious grin spread across Mylo’s blood–smeared face. “You’ve got nerve.”

At that moment, Hugo was still thinking about how to deal with Cain in the future.
Another pressure sat on his chest: the authentication results for the drakeblood gemstone were about to come out.
Then, his phone rang.
It was Mylo.

“What do you want?” Hugo snapped, already irritated. He had never thought much of this godson who spent his days partying and chasing women.
On the other end came harsh, angry breathing.
Hugo was about to explode when another voice slipped through the line–calm, unmistakable. Evan’s.
“Hugo, your godson came to kill me. Come pick his up.”
It felt as if the air had been sucked out of the room.
Hugo shot up from his chair like it had caught fire. His mind went blank. That idiof provoked him?‘
Hugo’s heart pounded so hard, he nearly blacked out.
He rushed out with his men at once.
Luckily, Stone’s Apothecary wasn’t far. They arrived quickly.
When Mylo saw a large group of men approaching, his grin twisted with savage delight. “Evan, you’re finished! My godfather’s here! And Artemisia, you won’t get away either-”
