Chapter 131 They Thought He Came to Beg

Evan had crossed them too many times and even tried to divorce Hazel. In their eyes, the least he deserved was punishment. More importantly, they wanted to see real remorse.

Only then would they consider sparing his life.

What they didn’t realize was that everything was coincidence.

Hazel, Roxanne, and Anya had it completely wrong. They waited a bit longer, but still couldn’t figure out how to stop him. Evan was growing impatient. That was because he wouldn’t be able to focus on his training until he settled things with them. “Look, Evan must be freaking out by now.”

“Yeah. He’s bracing for the worst and is probably done waffling around by now ”

“Why is he even hesitating? Pride is worthless when one’s life is on the line.”

Hazel, Roxanne, and Anya watched him, their eyes shining with excitement mixed with slight confusion.

They had expected him to walk over and apologize by now. They didn’t expect him to just stand there, utterly lost in thought.

“Cain is coming for him.”

“His life is on the line. Yet, he’s still clinging to his pride?”

Hazel shook her head.

Men with inflated egos rarely went far. In her opinion, those men cared too much about appearances and fell easily into pride’s trap, only to sabotage themselves in the end.

Evan shouldn’t have acted all high and mighty if he couldn’t live/without them.

So, the fact that he wanted to return and seek their protection only made them respect him less.

As for treating him and Zeke equally? Well, that was a joke. Evan could never measure up to him.

“Ugh… I’ve had it!” Anya finally snapped and stormed over.

When Evan heard the sound of footsteps, he assumed Sylvie had returned. So, he turned around. Alas, the sight that greeted him made him freeze in place.

It was Anya.

She snapped, “Evan, you spineless coward. Is it really that hard for you to apologize to us? You’re going to die soon enough. Yet, you’re still worried about your pride?”

Hazel and Roxanne walked over as well, their expressions ice-cold.

Evan frowned. “What are you even talking about? Who said I’m apologizing to you?”

They nearly let out a bark of sharp laughter, thinking, ‘Is he seriously playing dumb? He knows exactly what we mean.’

Hazel’s voice turned sharp. “Evan, can you drop the act? You’re standing here already. Isn’t that proof enough?”

“Huh?” Evan blinked, genuinely baffled. ‘I live here. What’s wrong with me being here?’

Roxanne’s smile was frosty. “Oh? Caught red-handed and still denying it? Do you need a reminder? Cain’s drakeblood gernstone just tested fake.”

That was the moment Evan truly realized what this was all about.
