What?
Harel, Roxane, and Anya could faintly hear the sounds of people fighting on the other of the phone
They heard two distinct female enices
Their expressions shifted instantly. What is going on? ts Evan involved with other Women besides us? How dare bel Their faces went cold, eyes sharpening as they stared at him.
But Evan already had a headache. He didn’t even spare them a glance.
Perhaps Sylvie or Estelle discovered Artemisia was on the phone with him as the speaker’s voice changed.
“Evan, where did you go? I slept all alone last night. It was terrifying!”
It was Estelle.
Before Evan could respond, the speaker switched again.
“Evan, tell this witch to leave already. I’m at my wits’ end! She actually said my rank would be lower than hers in this household, and I’ll be in charge of every chore. Goodness!” Sylvie let out a shout of frustration through gritted teeth.
“Dr. Norwood, please come back soon! I can’t stop them by myself. You can’t just walk away and leave me with this mess!”
The final speaker was Artemisia again.
She was about to lose it.
Evan exhaled slowly. “Alright. I’m coming.”
As he ended the call, he turned to look at the women stopping him from leaving and said, “See? I’m busy and don’t have time to waste on you.”
“You can’t go! You must donate blood to Zeke!
“Also, who were the women on the phone with you just now? You owe us an explanation!”
The frosty look on their faces grew icier as they looked down their nose at him.
There was no way he would indulge them. “That’s none of your business, and don’t owe you anything.”
He then turned to walk out the door.
“You say it’s none of our business, but what about the debt you owe us?” Anya questioned.
Having reached the limits of her patience, she decided to bring up the debt he owed.
“That’s a debt you can’t repay in this lifetime. We’re only asking for a little blood for Zeke. Is that too much? Since you can’ repay it, then donate your blood!” Anya’s voice grew louder.
He shot her a cold look. “Who said the debt can’t be repaid. I’ve already repaid it to your family.”
“What?”
That was so shocking that both Hazel and Roxanne froze.
They immediately turned to stare at Anya.
As for Anya, she was equally confused and stunned.

Evan spoke in a calm and even tone.
For a beat, the room went silent.
All of a sudden, the three women burst out laughing, disbelief written all over their faces.
“You think you’re strong enough to make Mr. Wells apologize to my family?
“Just who was the man who slipped out of the banquet as soon as he could? if you had been even a touch slower, you would have been beaten up!
“That’s right! My father only got beaten up because you ran away from Mr. Wells! How I wish I could kill you for that.”
Evan frowned upon hearing that.
“Wait. When did I run away?”
After all, he had been the one to defeat Hugo’s men.
That was why Hugo did whatever he demanded.
But Evan didn’t bother arguing.
“Either way, just wait. You’ll be told sooner or later.”
He did not want to talk to them anymore.
However, the three of them adamantly refused to let Evan leave.
“What are you doing?”
Just then, Cynthia charged out of the kitchen and separated him from the three women.
“Evan, if she ever dares to force you to do anything you don’t want, just tell me. I’ll take care of her!”
Cynthia shot Hazel a glare as she said that.
Hazel was breathing hard, anger boiling. ‘Does Evan think he’s untouchable just because my parents are hielding him?’
Anya’s eyes darkened. “Fine. I’ll make sure he donates today. Who cares about the debt?” She didn’t believe Evan could ever truly repay it anyway.
After all, she held no hope that Hugo would ever allow her father three free hits to the face.
Since nothing would change anyway, why not use the debt to force Evan to donate blood?
Even if that might sound extremely cold-blooded and vile enough to thoroughly ruin their relationship…
She did not care anymore.
Of course, all of those feelings were built on the basis that Evan had caved in yet refused to donate blood.
The next thing she knew, her phone was ringing.
“What is it, Dad?”
“Anya,” Graham’s voice came through, shaking with fear. “Something has happened. Come home now!”
