Chapter 156 Donate Blood or Get Out
“Yes. Go to the Golden Residence tomorrow.”
Evan’s voice was cold and decisive.
He wanted to cut ties with Hazel, Roxanne, and Anya as soon as possible. Being entangled with theit-wing them-left a bitter taste in his mouth.
The Golden family’s matter could have been resolved long ago. Hugo had simpry delayed it.
At one point, Evan had even considered dragging Hugo there himself.
Fortunately, Hugo had taken the initiative.
Hugo had been busy dealing with the drakeblood gemstone theft, so he knew some of Evan’s secrets.
He was sincerely in awe at how many powerful individuals supported Evan to the point that Evan truly did not fear Cain.
Hence, he hurriedly offered to apologize to the Golden family.
Over the phone, Hugo said, “I understand. I’ll be there tomorrow.”
After Graham invited Hugo over during the last banquet, he lost all drive.
On one hand, he had been gravely traumatized.
He had once believed the Golden family would rise with the Queen of Finance’s support and no longer fear Hugo.
It was nothing but a fantasy.
Not only did Ivana deny being connected in any way to the Golden family, but she also pretended not to know them at all.
Once more, Graham was punished by Hugo.
On the other hand, the incident had caused a great stir.
Everyone in high society now knew he had been slapped over and over again by Hugo. His reputation was in tatters.
The Golden family was thoroughly humiliated.
Some of the family’s business partners used the incident as an excuse to cancel their partnerships.
The damage was immense.
Now, the Golden family was in chaos.
୮
Graham looked years older. His hair had grayed. Sleep came only in broken fragments, plagued by nightmares.
He had just jolted awake from one when his phone rang.
“Graham?”
It was Hugo.
Graham sat up straight, terrified at the sudden appearance of Hugo’s voice in his life.
Stammering, he responded, “Mr. Wells?”
He felt like he was staring at his predator in the eyes.
Hugo got straight to the point. “Gather everyone in the Golden family, including Hazel and Roxanne, at your residence tomorrow. I have important business with you.”

“What?”
Before Graham could ask anything, Hugo hung up.
Graham stared at the phone, mind blank.
‘Why did he ask me to gather everyone’
His heart was still racing in panic. ‘I did not anger him again, right?’
What business did he have with the Golden family?
He even wanted everyone in the family gathered together…
Graham had a bad feeling.
His face swiftly drained of all color as realization struck him.
“Shoot! What do I do now?”
He paced all night, unable to think of a solution.
The next morning, he was still investigating frantically, trying to figure out what had triggered Hugo’s visit.
Meanwhile, in the Solberg Residence, Evan still had not said a single word to Hazel since returning to the house.
They did not even look at each other.
That infuriated Hazel, Roxanne, and Anya.
Finally, just as Evan was about to leave the house…
“Halt!” Hazel’s voice cut through the room.
Surprised, Evan stopped and turned. “What is it?”
“Since you’ve returned to my home, you should stop acting so high and mighty!”
There was a frosty look on Hazel’s face. Roxanne and Anya stood beside her, equally frosty.
From the very start, they took Evan’s return as a surrender, yet he still behaved as if nothing had happened.
‘How shameless!’ they thought.
Evan gave a faint snort. “Who’s acting?”
If Stefan and Cynthia hadn’t insisted, he wouldn’t have come back at all.
“Alright. We won’t expose you, but since you’re back, you should go back to donating blood to Zeke, right?”
Hazel grabbed his arm while speaking.
“You surrendered Act like it. If you want to stay in this house, you donate blood. That’s the price.”
Roxanne nodded in agreement.
Their logic nearly made Evan burst out laughing.
Did they truly believe returning meant admitting defeat? That he would obediently donate blood?
They overestimated themselves.

Evan focused.
In the background, unmistakably, were Sylvie and Estelle arguing.
