Sorry Too Late (by J.J. Twelve) novel Chapter 164

Chapter 164 When Protection Becomes Impossible

“Besides, you can’t protect me. Do you really think the Solberg name is some kind of get-out-of-death

free card?”

Hazel’s temper exploded at once. Roxanne and Anya both turned pale with anger.

‘This bastard. He lives with my family, eats our food, we even spent 150 million to keep him alive, and

this is how he talks about us?!”

When he saw Hazel’s face turn stormy, he added, “I’m just stating facts. Why are you so angry?”

He had already sensed that Stefan and Cynthia weren’t fully confident they could protect him. Yet, Hazel was acting as if everything were under control, as if she really had the power to keep him safe.

“Enough…” Hazel forced down the fury boiling in her chest. “I’m giving you one day to think about it. If you don’t apologize to me by this time tomorrow, I won’t care what happens to you. Get out of my house.”

Hazel was genuinely angry now. She couldn’t believe he still had the nerve to provoke them at this point in time. This wasn’t childish. He was being downright brainless.

Evan shrugged and walked off until he disappeared from their sight.

When he returned to Villa No. 1, Sylvie and Estelle had stopped arguing and hurried toward him together.

“Evan, I saw Hazel and the others blocking you just now. Did they do anything to you?” Sylvie asked, her expression sharp with hostility. Estelle’s face was cold too, her wariness plain as day.

The reason for their sudden unity was simple. They would fight endlessly over Evan if things were kept just between the two of them. However, they would stand on a united front when Hazel, Roxanne, or Anya were involved.

“No. If anything, I just pissed them off… They seriously think that I’d die at Mr. Solomon’s hands without their protection!” Evan said huffily before giving them a rundown of what had happened.

Sylvie burst out laughing. “Well, someone’s confident.”

“Still, I probably won’t be staying here for the next two days. Mr. and Mrs. Solberg are worried about me… “Evan explained.

Both Sylvie and Estelle understood. Stefan and Cynthia genuinely cared about him, so neither of them

made a fuss.

Meanwhile, Hazel and the others returned to Villa No. 9. None of them took Evan’s words seriously. On the contrary, they were excited.

“Hazel, he’s just being stubborn. Everyone’s afraid to die. You’ll see. Evan will come running to us once Mr. Solomon makes his move. We won’t even be able to shake him off then.”

“Exactly. Staying with us is the safest option he has.”

Hazel sighed, though. “That may be true, but Evan’s right about one thing…”

“What is it?” Roxanne and Anya asked at the same time.

“If Mr. Solomon really intends to deal with him personally, I’m not sure my family can protect him.” Hazel’s emotions churned as she spoke, a faint worry between her brows. “My family spent 150 million just to convince Mr. Solomon to let him live. But this time?

“Mr. Solomon has already issued a death order-no one is allowed to intervene. So Evan’s chances are as good as none.”

“What?!”

Her words were alarming enough to make Roxanne and Anya panic.

Zeke still needed Evan’s blood to survive. Evan couldn’t die, which left the three heiresses feeling both relieved and anxious.

They were relieved because Evan would eventually have no choice but to bow his head and apologize, but anxious because they might not be able to protect him long enough for that to happen.

If Evan died, Zeke would be in danger too.

“But Hazel, since you brought this up, you must have a plan, right?” Anya asked meaningfully.
