Chapter 165 A Death Planned for the Living
They all knew Hazel well. If she had given Evan a final ultimatum, it meant she had long since come up
with a solution.
“Yes. I do have a countermeasure,” Hazel admitted with a nod. “But it’s something that can only be used if there’s absolutely no other choice. Not unless things reach the point of no return.”
Her sudden shift in tone immediately sharpened Roxanne’s and Anya’s curiosity. “What kind of last- resort measure?” they asked.
“I’ve already arranged Evan’s death certificate.”
Her words landed like a thunderclap. Roxanne and Anya froze, their faces draining of color.
“A… death certificate?!”
Both of them stared at Hazel wide-eyed as if they’d seen a ghost. Neither had imagined that Hazel’s plan would be something like that.
“I get it! Hazel, you’re planning to make Evan fake his death, aren’t you?” Roxanne reacted quickly, instantly catching Hazel’s intention.
Hazel nodded. “Mr. Solomon is furious. He won’t allow anyone to intervene. We can’t shield Evan even if all three of our families join forces. Under these circumstances, I can’t think of any solution besides having him fake his death.”
Her voice grew heavier. “If Mr. Solomon believes Evan is already dead, everything ends there. Once a man dies, all grudges go with him. I’ve even arranged the method and reason for his false death-Evan Norwood committed suicide out of guilt.”
Roxanne gasped in incredulity, and Anya felt her heart pounding as panic surged. The plan was insane. It was bold, risky, and dangerous. If things went wrong, the consequences would be catastrophic. They
would essentially be playing a trick right under Cain’s nose.
Still, they didn’t exactly have a better way to circumvent this.
“I’ve already planned out his new life after the fake death too. He’ll live under a different identity. It’ll even make it easier for him to give blood to Zeke. Sure, he’d lose his name, his past, maybe even who he used to be, but he’d be alive. And what’s more important than that?”
Hazel didn’t care that what she was proposing would erase an entire person’s existence and completely rewrite his life. Instead, she felt triumphant. She was acting as though she were saving Evan, not destroying everything he had.
“Exactly. Right now, survival matters more than anything else. Everything else is just noise.”
“Hazel, this would be the second time you’ve saved Evan from Mr. Solomon. He should be worshiping the ground you walk on.”

Roxanne and Anya chimed in.
And it was true. No one had ever escaped the Overlord of Silverton twice. Evan was the first to break that rule, and he had done it twice because of Hazel’s support.
Hazel shook her head. “I don’t need his gratitude. It means nothing to me. He just needs to keep giving
blood to Zeke for the rest of his life.”
Roxanne and Anya nodded vigorously. In their eyes, Evan had no room to refuse now. Now that he was on the receiving end of yet another favor, he would have no choice but to obey and donate his blood to Zeke. After all, Hazel was saving his life yet again.
Meanwhile, Evan had no idea Hazel had secretly drafted a death certificate for him. He had no idea he was one step away from becoming a “dead man.”
Instead, he was answering a call before the massive floor-to-ceiling window inside Villa No. 1.
“Mr. Norwood, we’ve located and apprehended the group that fabricated evidence under Darius’ orders to frame you. We’re transporting them now. We’ll meet at Ms. Stanton’s residence,” said a member of the Cortex Team.
“Good. I’m on my way.”
A cold glint flashed through Evan’s eyes.
Now that the fabricators had been caught, they could testify that Darius had been the one pulling the strings. Combined with the evidence Ivana had been collecting, it would be enough to clear Evan completely.
It would make it all clear that he hadn’t stolen or swapped the drakeblood gemstone. No, Darius had. “Darius, this whole farce with the drakeblood gemstone… It’s time to end it.” Evan whispered to himself, his gaze fixed on the distant sky. Storm clouds were gathering in the distance. They were dark, heavy, and ready to break.
Just then, Sylvie and Estelle dashed in.
“Evan, are you sure you don’t need our help?” Both women looked at him with expectation.
It turned out that Sylvie had wanted to inform Gaius and Ivana the second she learned Cain would arrive in Silverton the next day. After all, there was no reason for them to shiver under Cain’s notorious reputation.
Gaius, the Iron Dragon of South Dominion, and Ivana, the Queen of Finance, were both in town. So, what royal member would dare snub them?
Alas, Evan had stopped her.
“My debts are mine to settle,” he repeated when Sylvie asked again.

“Fine…” Sylvie muttered, disappointed, while the admiration in her gaze only intensified.
‘He’s handling his own problems without depending on anyone else. How could anyone not feel safe with someone like that?’ 1
Evan was certain that Gaius and Ivana already knew Cain would soon descend upon Silverton,
