Chapter 179 A Choice That Cut Too Deep
They were stunned.
Hazel and the others had calculated every possibility except this one. They had never once imagined Evan would be at Norwood Residence.
He had already cut ties with the Norwoods and swore that he would never come into contact with them again. So, how could he possibly go back there?
“That’s impossible. Evan isn’t that kind of person.” Anya snapped out of her daze and shook her head firmly. “The Norwoods abandoned him. They framed him. There’s no way Evan would crawl back to them. He has too much pride.”
Roxanne felt the same.
They knew Evan. He was fiercely loyal. If someone treated him well, he repaid that person tenfold. But if someone betrayed him? Well, he would rather die than yield.
“So, what’s going on?”
Every face in the room had gone pale.
“I’ll find out.” Stefan pulled out his phone.
They waited in suffocating silence.
As they waited, an image kept surfacing in the three women’s minds–Evan standing tall, refusing to give in no matter what they said.
Back then, they thought he was just being stubborn. But what if he had already made up his mind? What if he would rather beg the Norwoods than apologize to them?
No, they couldn’t jump to conclusions. They needed confirmation.
“I got it!” After several frantic calls, Stefan hurried back, breathing hard. “You were right. Evan is at Norwood Residence. And it looks like he went there yesterday.”
The news struck like thunder.
Hazel, Roxanne, and Anya were rooted to the spot.
They couldn’t believe that he had actually gone to Norwood Residence.
Cynthia took a shaky breath. “It makes sense if you think about it. Mr. Solomon came for Evan. Then, he went straight to Norwood Residence. That’s more than enough proof”
Still, that wasn’t what truly infuriated Hazel and the others.
What really hurt them was that Evan would rather go to the family that had abandoned him than yield to them.
No wonder he had been so firm in his refusal to apologize, no matter what they said.
He had already planned to seek protection from the Norwoods. Did he even realize he was being played?
Hazel’s mind worked fast. The moment she learned Evan was at Norwood Residence, she pieced together the
Norwoods‘ intentions.

‘Evan… am I really that unbearable to you? You would rather beg the Norwoods than apologize to me? You think. they’ll save you? They’re lying to you, you idiot!‘ she screamed the words in her mind.
In the past, Evan had done plenty to anger the three of them. However, their anger would eventually settle, no matter how furious they were.
That was because they believed he was provoking them on purpose. They had assumed that he would return to them no matter what happened.
But this time, Evan’s “choice” stabbed straight into their hearts. It truly hurt.
They should have been furious after learning the truth. Instead, what flooded them was panic, confusion, and disbelief. Their minds were a mess.
Did Evan really despise them?
Did he truly want to leave
Otherwise, why would he rather turn to the Norwoods than come to them?
The questions sprouted in their minds like weeds after rain.
Hazel was the first to snap back to reality. She rushed out and got into her car.
“Hazel, where are you going?” Stefan called out.
She didn’t answer. Instead, she started the engine in silence, her thoughts clearly in turmoil.
Roxanne and Anya exchanged a glance. They knew exactly where she was headed. So, they didn’t hesitate to jump into the car with her.
