The engine roared, and Hazel’s car shot off down the road.

On the other side, the Norwood convoy had already returned to Eisenberg Castle.
“Where’s Evan?” Gabriel asked the moment he stepped inside, getting straight to the point.
James stiffened. “He’s over there!”
He quickly stepped forward and personally led Gabriel toward Evan’s room.
Alice, Beverly, and Colette all let out long breaths, their faces flushed with excitement and relief.
At last, the moment that would go down in history had arrived.
‘Evan, go in peace. We will remember your contribution to the Norwoods.‘
Everyone knew full well that none of it had been Evan’s doing. It had been Darius. Still, they had destroyed every trace of evidence that would link it back to arius.
Now, all the proof pointed to Evan, and no one could trace it back to them.
James beamed with pride as he introduced Darius. “Mr. Gabriel, this is my son, Darius. It was his idea to capture that b*stard Evan and save you the trouble.”
Darius stepped forward eagerly, his face flushed with anticipation.
The Norwoods were too greedy. It wasn’t enough that they were going to clear their names. No, they wanted benefits out of this, too.
However, Gabriel merely sneered and suddenly raised his voice. “I don’t care about your son. I want Evan!”
He looked at Darius and the others with open contempt.
How ridiculous. A bunch of nobodies daring to claim credit in front of him?
Everyone froze.
Darius‘ face was drained of color. James, Alice, Beverly, and Colette were all shaken. No one dared to say another word. Instead, they immediately ordered someone to unlock the room where Evan was being held.
In Darius‘ eyes, a flash of hatred flickered and vanished.
Gabriel had humiliated him today. He would remember that.
Evan was fast asleep. He was completely at ease, seemingly unaware that he was a prisoner.
Everyone from the Norwood family was stunned.
Alice’s eyes flashed with disgust. “He’s about to die and doesn’t even know it…”
Colette remembered how Evan had voluntarily stayed at Norwood Residence the day before. She had thought he would make one last desperate plea, begging them to change their minds.

Instead, he had done nothing but eat and sleep. There was not a single bone of fear in his body.
“You’re Evan?” Gabriel asked coldly. “The one who stole my father’s drakeblood gemstone three years ago?”
Gabriel hadn’t been present during the incident three years ago. This was the first time he had ever seen Evan.
“Huh? Why isn’t it Cain?” Evan blinked in surprise.
The person standing before him wasn’t Cain. It was a young, unfamiliar face.
As realization set in, his expression darkened.
“Where’s Cain? Didn’t he say he’d handle this personally? Why send a junior? Who are you?”
The words exploded in the room like a bolt of lightning, leaving everyone flabbergasted.
Even Gabriel’s expression changed.
“You little-”
James and Josephine stared in horror.
It was over. This brat had offended both Cain and Gabriel at the same time.
First, he had spoken Cain’s name directly, Cain being Mr. Solomon’s real name. Then, he had openly belittled Gabriel. How did he even dare?
Gabriel clenched his teeth until they ground audibly. “I’m Cain’s son. My name is Gabriel.”
“Oh. Cain’s son.” Evan looked at him steadily, a flicker of urgency in his eyes. “Can you make decisions on Cain’s behalf?”
What he wanted was someone with absolute authority. He wanted someone who could settle this once and for all, someone who could wipe the Norwoods off the map with a single word.
‘If it wasn’t Cain himself…‘ Although his plan was about to come to near fruition, a trace of concern crept into his heart for the first time since he started the ball rolling.
