Sorry Too Late (by J.J. Twelve) novel Chapter 187

Chapter 187 Independent

The Iron Dragon was watching the livestream from the sanatorium.

“Oh, it’s really him!”

“Evan…”

The Iron Dragon wasn’t the only one in the room. Sylvie, Ivana, Aria, and Victor were around. They too gasped in. surprise.

“So that’s why he didn’t need our help. He had it planned!”

Ivana smiled. She’d seen this coming. “Told you he knew what he was doing, Dad.”

Aria and Victor sighed. “He sees right through the veil, more than we do. Evidence is always a more solid plan than fighting Cain.”

Any single person in this room could take Cain out easily, but the gemstone case wasn’t a battle of status or power. It was a battle of presenting the truth to the public. If someone could do whatever they wanted just because of their status, order would crumble.

“Evan…” Sylvie didn’t take her eyes off the screen. Her gaze shone. Whatever mess this was, Evan chose the most responsible way to end it.

“He’s… incredible. I think I admire him even more now.” Estelle also held Evan in high regards, perhaps more so than Sylvie. The girl was a college student who’d never seen much of the world.

While her peers were bragging about their families and what they had, Evan was turning the tables in his favor with his own skills and smarts. That was what stole the hearts of girls like Estelle.

The mayor suggested, “Well, then go for it. Girls your age don’t have to fear rejection, and your chances are solid. But look out for your rivals. The Iron Dragon’s granddaughter aside, there’s also the queen of finance.”

The mayor added, “She might not show it, but I can feel it. She’s pushing her love deep down, but the moment it explodes, she’s going to be more aggressive than Sylvie is. You stand no chance against her.”

Hugo was keeping an eye on the case as well. The livestream stunned him. “That’s Evan for you. Always takes a different approach,” he praised.

Hugo thought Evan would use his backers to help him out, but he didn’t. Instead, he pulled out a mountain of evidence and turned the tables. Hugo was impressed. “That’s the kind of leader that’ll take me to great things.”

The technicians came back a short while later, and they were holding a laptop. They showed Gabriel the contents. The more he read, the darker his expression became, until his glare turned murderous as it locked onto the Norwoods.

“Take them!” Gabriel roared. The martial servants stepped ahead, and a powerful aura swept through the hall. The Norwoods couldn’t even breathe, and they were toppled.

Though there were only four martial servants, they could easily massacre the Norwoods. Darius’ parents and the others nearly wet their pants.

Panicked, someone asked, What are you doing, Mr. Gabriel?! We’re innocent! You should be taking that little bastard-him–not us!”

The tides had turned, much to the Norwoods’ disbelief. Alice, Beverly, and Colette were crouched on the ground, their faces pale. Darius shrank behind them, trembling so violently his eyes almost rolled back.
