Chapter 194 Cain’s Call
There was no sympathy in Evan’s eyes. Everything about this was ironic. Even though the Norwoods were on the edge of destruction, all they still had in their brains was their bloodline-the very thing that had cast them down.
Evan could feel their remorse. Unlike the fake apology they’d deigned to give him when he was framed, the Norwoods were genuinely repenting now. They were more than willing to lay down their lives for Darius.
Meanwhile, they were all more than happy to set Evan up, frame him, and kick him while he was down. All
because he wasn’t the real heir.
How… amusing.
Gabriel sneered. “The family in exchange for Darius? Sure, I can consider it if you can hand over the gemstone.
That was the last straw. Darius had auctioned off the real gemstone years ago. And he had done it at a high-end, overseas auction. Establishments like those valued their clients’ privacy.
So, Darius had no idea who bought the gemstone, let alone hand it over. Suffice it to say, the gemstone was nowhere to be found.
“You want me to spare him, but you can’t even give me my father’s gemstone back? Hilarious, Norwood.” Gabriel’s sneer was twisting into something cruel.
Blood sprayed from James’ lips. He knew Gabriel wasn’t going to spare his family, least of all Darius. Realization crashed upon the Norwoods like a tsunami, and they turned their eyes to Evan.
Their gazes were filled with venom and hatred. They were behaving as if he were the one who had pushed them to their demise.
James snarled like a beast. “The family’s finished! We’re all going to die, all because of you! Are you happy now? You destroyed your parents! Your siblings! You’re a monster! I curse you! I curse you to hell and back!”
Josephine was howling like a banshee, tears streaming down her cheeks. The Norwoods didn’t bother silencing their true thoughts, not when the end was nigh. They hurled insult after insult at Evan. To them, he was the reason they’d fallen to disgrace.
Evan only took a deep breath in return. The Norwoods did this to themselves, but they wanted to blame it all on him. Their heartlessness chilled him, but it didn’t matter. After all, the case was coming to an end.
Gabriel ordered, “Kill them-”
Just then, his phone rang. Gabriel looked solemn. He raised his hand to stop his servants.
The servants knew who was on the phone. “Is that Mr. Solomon?”
A moment of silence followed as everyone inhaled sharply. Solomon. It had to be Cain. The Norwoods were wary of Gabriel, but they were utterly terrified of his father. The man was a giant, especially to the Norwoods, who’d had the displeasure of seeing him three years ago.
The terror that he’d struck all those years ago was etched down to their very marrows. So, they couldn’t help but quake in their boots even though he was nowhere near them.
“Yes, Dad?” Gabriel accepted the call.
Dead silence grasped the scene. Everyone hung their heads low.
A majestic voice came from the phone. “How are things going, Gabriel? Did Evan confess?”
