Chapter 212 A Banquet in Ruins

“Exactly. If I were Evan, I’d walk out without looking back.”

“This is ridiculous!”

Some of the guests had finally had enough and began criticizing openly.

The murmurs and accusations made Stefan’s vision go dark, and he nearly passed out.

This wasn’t what he intended at all!

Everything was ruined.

The plan they had carefully arranged to reconcile the two had been completely destroyed-all because Zeke.

Evan said nothing this whole time. As he watched the entire scene unfold, a cold smile slowly appeared on his lips.

In that earlier situation, he had truly been cornered, but who’d have thought Zeke would show up and solve the problem for him?

Still, Evan could not help muttering under his breath, “Some old habits really never change…”

Cynthia happened to hear the remark.

Her legs gave out instantly. She dropped to the floor with a thud, staring at Evan as her voice shook. “E- Evan… let me explain. Hazel, she-”

“No need.” Evan simply grinned and looked at Stefan and Cynthia. “Mr. and Mrs. Solberg, I know you meant well. But even without this little show tonight, I had no interest in taking things further with Hazel.

“As for trying for a baby… the thought alone disgusts me.”

In an instant, Stefan and Cynthia’s last bit of composure shattered, especially from that final sentence.

Evan had not even tried to hide the disgust on his face.

‘Does this mean Evan has already made up his mind to divorce Hazel?

The realization struck like thunder.

Meanwhile, Hazel was still desperately explaining herself to Zeke.

“Zeke, listen to me! It’s not what you think. I didn’t mean it, I really didn’t… I was just confused for a moment. I listened to my parents without thinking…”

As for what Evan had said earlier, she hadn’t heard a single word.

After a long silence, a smile finally appeared on Zeke’s face.

In truth, he had already stopped being angry. The reason he had made such a scene at the banquet was simple-to destroy Evan’s “plan.” And, of course, to disgust him in the process.

‘You want to stay in the Solberg family that badly, don’t you? Fine. Stay. But only as a tool. Hazel, Roxanne, and Anya are all mine. You can only stand there and watch. A substitute like you doesn’t even deserve dignity.’

No matter how desperately Hazel tried to explain, Zeke refused to say another word to her. Instead, he turned and looked straight at Evan, his expression openly provocative. His gaze seemed to be bragging.

‘The woman you fought so hard to win over? I can make her change her mind with one word.’

The challenge in Zeke’s eyes stumped Evan momentarily, but when he came around, he let out a cold snort.

‘Feeling proud of yourself, Carter? You think you’ve won again. But what you don’t realize is that I stopped caring about Hazel a long time ago. Women like her aren’t even worth my attention anymore. I’ve already risen far above all of this.’

By the time Stefan and Cynthia came back to their senses, Evan was already gone. They hurried out after him, but there was no trace of him anywhere.

“This is bad…” Cynthia’s voice trembled as she almost broke into tears. “After Zeke made such a scene, there’s no way Evan and Hazel can ever be together again. Even if she wants to reconcile, he’ll never agree now!”

Who would willingly stay with a woman whose feelings wavered so easily, someone who could cross the line at any moment? Anyone who did would only become the subject of ridicule.

But if they didn’t stay together, that meant divorce. And divorce meant Evan would lose his ties to the Solberg family. Once that happened, Cain would undoubtedly send people after him.

They had reached a dead end. No matter how things turned out, Cain would still target Evan.

“Quick! Suppress the news. Don’t let any of the guests spread what happened tonight-make sure they keep their mouths shut!” Stefan shouted anxiously.

The couple hurried back into the banquet hall, going from guest to guest, pleading with them to keep that day’s events absolutely confidential.

“Yes, of course. We won’t say anything.”

“Don’t worry, we’ll keep quiet.”

Graham, Sadie, and the others all agreed. But whether they truly intended to keep silent or not was another matter entirely. After all, no one could ever really know someone else’s true intention.

Even if everyone at the banquet kept their mouths shut, such a major incident would eventually spread. The only question was whether the news would reach Cain.

What none of them noticed was that several suspicious figures had been lurking around the hotel the

entire time.

‘Snap!’

They quietly pulled out their phones and began taking photos.
