“She’s lucky she’s not standing in front of me right now, or I’d disown her on the spot!” he shouted.

“Oh, calm down. Losing your temper won’t fix anything now that it’s already happened.” Cynthia rolled her eyes at him, though her own face was full of disappointment.

Zeke’s disruption had certainly been infuriating, but what truly hurt them was Hazel’s behavior.

After all, trouble would never appear out of nowhere.

If Hazel had been firm in her convictions and remained rational, then no matter how Zeke tried to stir things up, it wouldn’t have mattered.

On the contrary, outsiders would only have seen how strong her relationship with Evan was. But the result had been the exact opposite. The moment her old flame appeared, Hazel completely lost her

composure.
