Chapter 233 Their Prayers Failed

“I’ve felt nothing for Evan singe Zeke came back! I’ve never liked him! And my family hates me because of him. Yeah, they took me back, but I’m not as respected anymore! He did this to me! I should be asking for reparations, and now I’m expected to marry

him!

“What do I do, Hazel? I don’t want to marry his Help me out! I’ll do anything if it means not marrying Evan!”

Roxanne was squeezing Hazel’s arms tightly, as if she were her lifeline, She was having a meltdown. Frankly, she was close to

tears.

Things had all turned upside down.

Roxanne regretted ever helping Evan.

She couldn’t believe that she had sacrificed her whole future for a replacement. She’d still be the Leightons’ most brilliant

prodigy if she hadn’t impulsively stolen the life-saving drug from her family. She’d still be loved and respected by everyone.

She’d still be drowning in resources, and Zeke would never have had to rely on blood transfusions to survive.

This was all Evan’s fault, or that was what she thought. Regardless, it filled her with regret. She shared Hazel’s resentment, but Roxanne made sure she kept it hidden until she was forced to go through the marriage contract they had settled on years ago.

Now, she could no longer keep her lid on her resentment.

Anya was also panicking. “Oh no, I’d forgotten all about that. If Roxanne’s marrying him this year, it’s my turn next!” The realization that she’d have to marry Evan next year struck Anya like lightning. She nearly blacked out.

After all, she was also reluctant to go through the terms.

The heiresses only cared about Zeke. So, they only wanted to marry him, not Evan. Replacements could never beat the real thing.

“But I can’t say no. We made a deal and signed a contract. That’s a fact.” Roxanne was ashen, her eyes empty.

Anya was the color of a tombstone. They didn’t just promise Evan they’d marry him over the span of three years verbally. They signed it on paper. One of the clauses made sure the contract couldn’t be nullified.

The contract would go on if the first marriage wasn’t dissolved. That meant that both Anya and Roxanne had to marry him.

“I should never have signed the contract!” Roxanne and Anya were nonplussed. They only signed the papers to make sure they could marry Evan. Their hope had died upon Zeke’s departure. Evan was the only thing tying Zeke to them.

However, Zeke returned. Unfortunately, the contract was still in effect. They had no way out. Anya still time, given the terms. Meanwhile, Roxanne’s time was running out. Her strength was now failing her, and she wanted to jump off a building.

Hazel looked at her friends. “Calm down. Maybe he’s forgotten about the whole thing” If Evan had forgotten about the contract, then it might as well never have existed.

“You’re right!” Anya and Roxanne’s eyes lit up. “If he doesn’t remember…” Then, they started praying that Evan had forgotten about the deal they had.

Their prayers failed.

After Sadie was done talking to Roxanne, she called Evan and said, “Evan, here’s a reminder. Roxanne’s going to marry you

soon. Make sure you’re ready.”

That stunned Evan, but then he realized what she was referring to It was nearly tune for Roxanne to marry him. A sneer twisted his lips.

He thought, ‘Roxanne, marrying me? Yeah, in your dreams. I went through hell to get away from Hazel, and now you want Roxanne to marry me?

‘I might as well be crawling out of the pan and into the fire if I did that. I sure as hell didn’t get a divorce just to marry Roxanne.’
