Chapter 238 Can’t Get to Him
“In the end, it all comes down to Cain. Hugo probably figured he hadn’t cut himself off completely from the case even after was slapped, so he paid us another visit. The grace period is almost up, anyway.”
Anya had the same thought. Hugo would never help Evan repay his debt. The only man he cared about was himself.
Suddenly, Anya realized something terrifying. “But once the settlement agreement’s signed, that means Evan has repaid his debt and owes us nothing anymore.” She started sweating.
Graham rolled his eyes. “Obviously. The document is here. He owes us nothing anymore.”
Anya clenched her fists. “Curse it all!” She could still twist the story of the slaps Graham had taken, but now there was writter proof that Evan had repaid his debt.
Anya thought, ‘Great, he has another reason to gloat at us now. Even worse, our men have scoured the City Hall’s vicinity for days, but they never found Evan.’
Hazel thought Evan would drop the application behind their backs, but it didn’t happen. He didn’t apologize to them either. However, the heiresses didn’t relax. Instead, they looked stormy.
“He sure is patient…” Anya clenched her teeth.
Roxanne whispered, “Hazel, he’s probably not coming.”
They sent out so many men, but Evan was nowhere to be found. Sure enough, the heiresses were beginning to doubt themselv
However, Hazel was still confident with her assumptions. “He will! I’m sure of it! Would you come if you were him?”
Roxanne and Anya nodded.
“Then, that settles it. He probably slipped through the cracks somehow.”
Hazel continued, “Maybe he saw the search team and decided to hide and wait for his chance. Once we let our guard down, he’d drop the application immediately. Keep an eye out. Don’t leave even if we don’t find him. Just stay until the grace period’s over.”
Hazel had thought of everything. Maybe Evan would show up, maybe he wouldn’t. Still, she would be the winner as long as they had men keeping an eye out for Evan. It didn’t matter to her that Evan couldn’t be found as all she had to do was wait.
Roxanne and Anya, bolstered by Hazel’s plans, became cocky. ‘So what if you have the contract, Evan? It’s a meaningless piece of paper if you can’t cancel the application! You want us to marry you! Hah, return the life-saving drug and then we talk!
Meanwhile, Anya wasn’t as confident. Evan had repaid her family’s debt. Stefan, Cynthia, and Zeke were panicking. The Solberg couple kept blasting Evan’s phone and telling him to let bygones be bygones. “Get along with Hazel,” they said.
Sadly, Evan had secluded himself. Thus, he couldn’t receive any calls. In fact, it felt like he’d disappeared from the face of the Earth. No one could find him, and no calls could reach him.
Zeke was bothered. “Hazel, tell me the truth. Is Evan going to be alright?” Evan was his blood bank. If Evan died, he would perish as well.
“We won’t let him die, Zeke, even if it means divorce. We’ve had everything arranged. He’ll live out his life as your blood bank!”
Or so the heiresses promised.
