Chapter 22 Debts, Betrayal, and Blood
“Tell us. Just why did you hit zeke?”
Hazel, Roxanne, and Anya were glaring at Evan with clenched fists and rage in their eyes.
Evan’s smile turned icy as he indifferently replied, “I did it because I wanted to. Nothing more to it.
“I only hit him once, and you act like the world was ending. How did you treat me back then?”
In a sorrow-laced tone, he continued, “For the past three years, our relationship had always been one of debt. I wanted to repay you out of gratitude. For that, I’ve gone all out and even changed my name.
“How did you treat me in return? For one, you’ve always treated me like I was just a substitute. He is dying, but how is that any of my business? Why should I donate my blood? Do I owe him anything?”
Evan pointed at Zeke, who was huddled up in Hazel’s arms, and raised his voice.
“At the start, you would try to coax me into donation. Just one time, you promised. Just think of it as saving a life, you said. Later on, you stopped with the act and had men kidnap me, forcing me to donate!
“This doesn’t include all the little things that happened every day. You would give Zeke anything and everything he wanted. I only wanted a show of concern, yet none of you were ever there.”
Even if he was determined to cut off all ties, the mere memory of the past sent Evan’s heart racing in anger.
“Hazel… I mean, Ms. Solberg, I used to feel pride in being called a Solberg. Now, I only feel shame!”
The three young ladies were taken aback by Evan’s barrage of questions. Their eyes shone with mixed emotions.
However, Hazel merely pursed her lips and calmly said, “We’re now talking about how you hit Zeke. Why do you bring up the past? It is evident you can’t control your emotions.
“Did you think we’d notice you even more if you hit Zeke? It only makes us look down on you!”
Roxanne chimed in agreement. “That’s right! Attention-seeking antics would only make us hate you!”
Evan chuckled. “You don’t even want to know why I hit him.”
“Is there a need to ask more? As you said, you hit him because you wanted to. Nothing more!”
“You’re jealous of Zeke, so you hit him in anger. Isn’t that enough?”
Roxanne and Anya sneered.
When Evan heard that, his face darkened. He had struck Zeke for setting him up!
After all, that was his usual trick.
Zeke deserved to be punched!
However, Roxanne and Anya always had unconditional faith in Zeke.

It was the same in the past. Whenever there was a dispute between both men, Hazel, Roxanne, and Anya would always be on Zeke’s side.
No explanation Evan offered mattered.
That was simply a reflection of many issues.
All of their trust was reserved for the man they loved.

If they did not love someone, they would never believe him, even if fre spilled his heart out.
“Whatever you say. Either way, the cooldown period will be over soon. I’ve repaid the Solbergs now, so there’s nothing between
us anymore!”
Evan coldly scoffed.
What he said stirred up their anger once more.
Then, there was the way he completely changed his look and his blatant disrespect toward them.
All of that proved that Evan was truly leaving them.
They were already mad in the first place. Now, they were hysterical.
“You’re lucky, Evan. Besides you, we’ve found another blood donor compatible with Zeke. Consider your debt repaid.
“Still, you only repaid your debt to Hazel. What about ours?”
