Chapter 242 The Morning of the Divorce

Hazel and the other heiresses were still waiting. They had barely slept all night, yet Evan never showed up.

“Seriously, is Evan not afraid of dying? It’s the day of the divorce, and we haven’t heard a single word from him!”

They were on the verge of losing their minds.

Whether he would apologize or not was one issue.

The real problem was that there was no news from him at all.

The courthouse would open in less than an hour. Even if he planned to wait until the very last moment, it shouldn’t be this extreme.

Unless Evan had never intended to apologize in the first place. Maybe he was really planning to go through with the divorce.

The three heiresses found it unbelievable, but more than anything, they were furious.

Once again, things had not gone the way they expected. At critical moments, Evan always did something completely unpredictable.

“That can’t be!” Hazel said, trying to calm herself as she repeated the same thought over and over. “Evan knows better than anyone that if the divorce happens, he’s as good as dead!”

“But where is he now?” Roxanne said, almost losing her composure. “It’s like he vanished into thin air!”

Roxanne and Anya had also stayed up all night. Their faces looked pale and worn, and their eyes were bloodshot. But what weighed on them most was the strain in their minds.

Not being able to find Evan was driving them crazy. They were angry, confused, and deeply frustrated.

What on earth was Evan doing? Why wasn’t he coming to apologize? Did he actually want to die?

Suddenly, Anya seemed to remember something. Her face instantly turned pale.

“Hazel… do you think Mr. Gabriel might have already made a move against Evan? He probably knows everything about our situation…”

“I don’t think so.” Hazel shook her head firmly. “No. Mr. Solomon targeting Evan is meant to establish authority in Silverton. He wouldn’t act in secret or ahead of time.”

“Then, where is he?” Anya sounded close to breaking down.

They had thought through every possible scenario, and none of them made sense. It was enough to drive anyone mad.

They weren’t truly worried about Evan’s life being in danger. After all, they still had their backup plan: the

fake death certificate. But if they could avoid using that option, they would rather not.

Once they used it, it would mean they had deceived Cain. If no one discovered it, that would be fine.

But if the truth came to light, the consequences would be unimaginable.

“I swear, there’s something wrong with Evan!” Anya finally snapped, jumping to her feet and shouting. This was supposed to be simple, but he just had to make it complicated. Why couldn’t he just behave and listen for once? Now, everyone’s miserable!”

She couldn’t stand the mental strain any longer.

Hazel glanced outside.

Dawn was beginning to break. She made her decision on the spot.

“We’re not waiting anymore. Let’s go to the courthouse first,” Hazel said coldly. “If he’s not afraid of dying and refuses to apologize, then let him fend for himself. When Mr. Solomon finally settles accounts with

him, he’ll know what fear feels like.”

“Fine! Serves him right!”

“I want him kneeling in front of us, begging for forgiveness before I even consider forgiving him!”

Roxanne and Anya were furious too.

The truth was simple. The one who should fear the divorce was Evan, not them.

If they divorced, at worst, they would be criticized and mocked behind their backs. But if Evan divorced them, he would lose his life.

Before leaving, Hazel sent Evan one last message.

‘We’re heading to the courthouse now. Whether you apologize or not is up to you. This is the last chance I’m giving you. If you miss it again, even I won’t be able to protect you. Think carefully about what you’re

doing.’

When Evan saw the message while strolling down the street, he couldn’t help but sneer. He immediately switched off his phone. “Idiots.”

Only he knew how painfully long he had waited for this moment.

On his way to the courthouse, Evan noticed something strange. Luxury cars sped past him one after

another.

Normally, it wasn’t unusual to see expensive cars in the city, but usually, there were only a few. Today, however, they appeared in groups, almost like a convoy.

What surprised Evan even more was this.

After he practiced the Ninefold Arcane Arts, his vision had sharpened significantly.
