Chapter 256 A Brief Refuge, A Deeper Trap

They were just one step away from stripping in public.

“Calm down… All of you, calm down… Holy hell!”

When Evan saw the girls practically lining up to kiss him, he nearly lost his mind.

He turned and bolted. But where could he run? They were everywhere.

“Kiddo, over here!” A familiar voice suddenly rang in his ear.

It was Ivana.

Evan’s eyes lit up instantly. Ivana had come to save him. Of course, she had. After all, she was the reliable one.

He sprinted over and wasted no time jumping into her car.

The engine roared to life.

Sylvie and the others would never have guessed that Evan had ended up in Ivana’s car.

However, he froze the moment he got in. He didn’t even have time to catch a breath.

Ivana was sitting beside him in a pristine white wedding gown. There was a faint, knowing smile playing on her lips.

His eyes widened in disbelief. “Ivana, you—”

“Shh…”

Before he could finish, a delicate finger in a lace glove pressed gently against his lips.

Then, a soft, sweet fragrance drifted toward him.

Ivana leaned in and wrapped her arms around him.

Evan’s body went rigid, his mind going completely blank.

“I-Ivana… what are you doing? Didn’t I say… I’d wait until I was truly strong enough before…” Evan was sweating bullets, too afraid to move.

Who would’ve thought that he’d escaped one nightmare, only to fall straight into another?

Ivana wanted to marry him, too.

“Don’t talk. I know what you mean… Just let me hold you for a while. You’re mine at least for this moment. No one else gets to take you from me…” Her soft voice came again.

Only then did Evan stop struggling, letting her hold him.

Unlike the others, Ivana didn’t want anything more. All she wanted was just this quiet moment alone with him.

She was dressed in her wedding gown, her eyes gently closed as she rested against his chest, savoring his warmth and the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.

A faint, contented smile slowly appeared on her breathtaking face.

As the time ticked away, she eventually drifted off to sleep.

Hazel could never have imagined that the wealthy daughters across the entire city had all put on wedding dresses

for Evan.

Nor could she have imagined that after his divorce, every girl in town had rushed to pursue him.

That scene was something no one who saw it would ever forget.

Fortunately, they had left early and missed it. Otherwise, it would’ve shattered the three heiresses completely and driven them mad.

Instead, they trudged their way back to Villa No. 9 in Nine Courts, tired to the bone.

Hazel, especially, looked like a ghost of herself. The divorce had drained the very life out of her.

“Hazel, you’re home?”

Zeke stepped out just then, a playful curiosity in his voice. “So? Evan must’ve come begging now that today’s the D -Day, right? He must’ve begged you not to go through with it, hahaha…”

Just imagining Evan begging Hazel not to divorce him made Zeke want to laugh.
