Sorry Too Late (by J.J. Twelve) novel Chapter 259

Chapter 259 The Fools

On one side, her happiness; on the other, Zeke’s survival. It was a tough choice. Two sides of Roxanne were fighting within her.

One asked, “Will you really sacrifice yourself and marry the one you don’t love, especially when he’s the reason you’re in this mess? Just because Hazel did it doesn’t mean you can.

“You’re not like her. The sight of him alone drives you mad. You’ve given up your future for him. Don’t give up your happiness, too.”

The other said, “You’re sacrificing your happiness for Zeke. It’s alright. You’re the only one who can save him now. You’d regret it if you don’t do this.”

That inner argument went on and on. Roxanne was leaning toward saving Zeke, but her happiness would be the cost. She had to think about it. She bit her lip, her expression conflicted. “I’ll think about it.”

Zeke grabbed Roxanne’s hand tightly. He wanted to scream, but he couldn’t. “There’s nothing to think about. This is the best way forward.”

He explained patiently, “Think about it. If you marry Evan, you can have him give me his blood. When I get better, I can stay with you. Just deal with him like how Hazel used to. It’ll make everyone happy.”

“But…” Roxanne was getting swayed, but marrying Evan was still an unacceptable consequence for her.

She wasn’t Hazel.

Their personalities differed too much. Even if she married Evan, it might not work out like Zeke said it would.

If that was the case, her happiness was done for.

Hazel spoke up. “Come out, Roxanne. We need to talk. Alone.”

Roxanne went out.

Hazel said calmly, “Marry him. If not for Zeke, then for me.”

“For you? Hazel, what…” Realization hit Roxanne, and her eyes went wide.

Hazel had a conflicted look on her face.

She nodded. “I hate how it ended. Something tells me this isn’t how it’s supposed to end between us. If you marry him, then we at least have some cards to play.”

Anya suggested, “Marry him, Roxanne. He still owes your family a favor. You can use that to force him into marriage.”

Everyone was telling her to marry Evan, but that only made her more confused.

“Please, I beg you, Roxanne!” Hazel nearly went down on her knees.

Roxanne pulled her back up right away. “What are you doing, Hazel? Fine, I’ll marry him!” Her voice broke.

She changed her mind.

It was partly because she wanted to, but it was mainly because she was coerced into it. Roxanne called her mother and told her about her change of mind. Thus, the Leightons started making their move.

The Leightons knew Evan was only spared because he was the Solbergs’ adopted son. They could let Roxanne marry him.

Evan had no idea this whole thing was happening behind the scenes. After getting away from Ivana, he went back to Villa No. 1. Instead of training, he sat down in the living room and waited for Gabriel and his men.

With Gabriel’s connections, he could find out where Evan lived easily. Yet, no one had shown up after a long while.
