Chapter 260 Angry Evan
Evan was starting to wonder if Cain was a coward. Hugo then told him the whole story.
“You and Hazel might’ve gotten a divorce, but you’re technically still the Solbergs’ adopted son. The divorce doesn’t negate that. That’s why Cain couldn’t do anything.”
Evan was bemused. The Solbergs’ adopted son? Him? He already signed the letter of estrangement. He still had the documents.
‘Wait,’ Evan thought. ‘Something’s not right. This must be Stefan and Cynthia’s doing.’
Evan realized who must be behind this. The fact that Stefan and Cynthia went against Gabriel for him doused his anger. He had no idea what to feel. Stefan and Cynthia were more than kind to him. They were the only few who cared about him like a son.
‘But honestly, you just tripped me up,’ Evan thought in frustration. He was already going to get rid of Cain. It was the perfect time to see how powerful level three of the Ninefold Arcane Arts was.
But now that had to be pushed back. However, Evan wasn’t going to tell the public he and the Solbergs were estranged. That’d be spitting in Stefan and Cynthia’s faces. Also, the estrangement couldn’t be kept under wraps for much longer anyway.
“I need to thank them properly. They must be worried sick.” Evan grabbed a couple of energy drugs and went to the Solbergs’ place.
Stefan was at home with his wife. Cynthia wasn’t doing too well. The doctor said she was weakened due to shock and that distracting her would do wonders for recovery. Meanwhile, her health would only suffer if she continued
to dwell on the matter.
Alas, it was impossible for her not to dwell on the matter. It was starting to haunt them. Although they’d told Neil not to speak to anyone about the estrangement, they still felt uneasy. They had a feeling the secret would be out.
soon.
Evan dropped by. “Stefan, Cynthia, I’m here!”
The couple froze, but they quickly rushed to Evan. Cynthia nearly launched herself out of bed, crying tears of happiness. “Come here, Evan. Are you alright? Did they attack you?”
Stefan shot her a reproachful look. “I’ve told them Evan’s one of us. Why would they go after him after that?”
“They very well could’ve regardless of what you told them or not! Who knows what they could do?” Cynthia fussed over Evan and heaved a sigh of relief after finding out he was fine.
The couple was obviously worried about Evan. Evan couldn’t help but think that this must be what parents’ love looked like. Honestly, they probably were his real parents at this point.
“Stefan, Cynthia, these are energy drugs. They’ll do wonders for your body. Cynthia can recover immediately if she takes one of these.” He handed the drugs over.
“What?” The couple was stunned. Anyone who wasn’t in medicine wouldn’t understand how magical these drugs were, nor the value they contained. The drugs they got from the Leightons looked different from the ones Evan presented to them.
Still, they’d take whatever Evan gave them. “Thank you, Evan, but I’m fine. I’m just worried about you.” Cynthia
