Chapter 264 Giving It Back
Evan raised his voice, and a powerful aura came crashing down on the ground. It undulated and spread across the chamber. The whole estate fell deathly silent. Sadie, Wendy, and their ilk were petrified. They didn’t move a single
muscle.
“What happened?” The Leightons snapped out of it, and they had goosebumps. All they remembered was Evar scaring them into silence alone.
Then, they saw the look on his face. It was stormy and filled with scorn. That wasn’t fake. If he wasn’t here for Roxanne…
Thaddeus demanded, “Then, why are you here? At least give us a reason!”
Sadie and Wendy looked at him curiously. If Evan wasn’t here to marry Roxanne, then why’d he show up?
Evan was not in a good mood. It took these people forever to get to the point. Still, he answered, “I’m returning the life-saving drug.”
“What?” Everyone couldn’t believe what they’d just heard. Roxanne’s marriage might’ve been an inconsequential episode, but Evan’s declaration was a bombshell.
Even the usually solemn Thaddeus was stupefied. He looked at his clansmen. “Can anyone repeat what he just said?”
“Sir, he’s giving back the life-saving drug…” The guy chuckled before he could finish.
That was the first domino. Everyone else laughed with him. Wendy was crying from laughing too hard. She thought she’d heard the best joke cracked.
Sadie’s face was dark. She looked at Evan with disdain. ‘And here I thought he had something better to say? This is ridiculous!’ For a moment, she didn’t want to marry Roxanne off to Evan.
Even Thaddeus was laughing, but his eyes were still on Evan. “Are you sure you’re here to return the drug to us? Do you have any idea what that drug is?”
However, Thaddeus answered before Evan could say anything, “It’s the ultimate medicine that can revive even the dead! A dying man can live on for years if he were to take one! It’s invaluable! The whole nation’s medical experts have only made six over the years!
“Not even some of the medical bluebloods possessed the drug, and you have one?”
The hilarity had died down. Now, everyone was scoffing at Evan. They thought, ‘What a clown. That’s a joke he cracked. Life-saving drug? As if.’
Thaddeus knew how rare and magical that was. Evan was pulling out of his rear. Wendy even texted Roxanne, “I feel for you, Roxanne. You’re going to marry a guy who has no heart, no backbone, and lies through his teeth. I’d rather die than marry a guy like him.”
Roxanne was still wallowing in her sorrow, and the text confused her. ‘What? Why’s she mocking me out of nowhere?’
She had no idea that the life-saving drug, the one she kept regretting stealing, was going back to its owner.
Evan’s patience had run out. He scoffed derisively. “Bunch of ignorant dumb*sses. It’s just one life-saving drug,
