Chapter 27 A Line Meant to Scare- Or Crossed for Good
‘Gasp!
The villa instantly fell into a dead hush. No one spoke. Everyone was too stunned to react, but once they recovered, Roxanne and Anya fired off questions one after another
“Hazel, are you serious?”
“You’re really going to divorce Evan? I thought you were just saying it in anger…”
Even Zeke looked taken aback, coughing lightly as he spoke in a show of concern. “Hazel, don’t divorce Evan because of me. Even if it’s just for show, you shouldn’t. I may not be the one who married you, but Evan has still put in years of effort. What you’re doing will hurt him badly…”
“And whose fault is it that he’s been so disobedient lately—and even hit Zeke!” Hazel’s eyes flashed coldly. “When I first mentioned the cooling–off period, it was just to make him understand his place. But what did he do instead? Just because he donated blood to Zeke, he started pushing his luck. Since that’s the case, I’ll make it real. I’ll have him sign the divorce registration and see if he panics then.”
Roxanne and Anya immediately understood what Hazel meant. It was still a threat–but one backed by real action. Once Evan signed the divorce registration, it would carry legal force. Like a summons from the underworld, there’d be no backing out without consequences.
“Hazel, you’re impressive,” Roxanne said with a smile. “After this, Evan won’t dare act on his own anymore.”
“Exactly,” Anya chimed in. “And Evan wouldn’t dare sign it. In fact, I bet he’ll switch back to his old clothes and hairstyle and come running back to apologize.”
“What if Evan actually signs it?” Zeke asked tentatively.
Deep down, he was almost certain Evan truly wanted to leave the three heiresses. Only they were still completely in the dark. Zeke wanted to test their reaction–if Evan really signed, what would they do? That answer would determine his next move.
“Impossible! He wouldn’t dare,” Roxanne and Anya said at the same time, laughing it off. But Hazel suddenly spoke with icy resolve. “No. He must sign it. This is the lesson I’m giving him. Once he signs and truly regrets it, I’ll withdraw the application.” A cold, satisfied smile flickered across Zeke’s lips. The three heiresses‘ attitude wouldn’t interfere with his plan. He could proceed without worry.
“But something this big shouldn’t you tell your parents?” Roxanne asked uneasily.
“You should at least let them know,” Anya added. “And you’ll need to go back and get Evan’s ID card. Divorce registration requires it.”
Before long, Hazel returned home alone and the first thing she did was ask Cynthia for Evan’s ID card, startling Cynthia in response. “What?! Why do you need his ID card?”
‘Cough, cough!‘ Stefan, who was drinking, choked badly and started a coughing fit.
Evan had changed his last name back to Norwood, and taken his ID card with him. If Hazel knew it, she would find out everything!
“What’s wrong with you two? I’m just asking for his ID card. Why are you reacting like this?” Hazel frowned, suspicion creeping into her voice.
Stefan and Cynthia both looked visibly uneasy. Evan’s ID card was practically contraband in their household now no one was allowed to mention it. It held undeniable proof that Evan had already severed ties with them.
“I forgot where I put it,” Cynthia said evasively. “Why do you need his ID card anyway?”

“For the divorce,” Hazel replied without hesitation.
‘Boom!
Her answer hit Stefan and Cynthia like a thunderbolt, leaving them utterly stunned. They stared at Hazel as if she’d lost her mind.
“Hazel, are you crazy? You really want to divorce van?!” Stefan erupted in fury.
“I’m just trying to scare him,” Hazel said confidently. “Relax. Once he signs the application and regrets it, I’ll withdraw it. It’s not a real divorce.”
Stefan nearly passed out. ‘The boy had already come back to sever family ties. If you bring up divorce, he’ll agree without hesitation. There won’t be any regret. Once he signs that divorce application, the ending will only be one thing–divorce!
